Not as much as you think. The gold crown would need to first be sterilized, then smelted down to remove the other metals that in the crown. Unless you have many gold crowns, there wouldn't be much value in going through the hassle of extracting the gold. Most of the cost of the gold tooth comes from the cost in making it, not just the cost of the gold. Dentists, assistants, lab techs all have to go through lots of expensive training to be able to make that gold tooth for you. Most of the cost comes from the time used to make the crown, not the materials used. There is also a considerable amount of money spent on sterilizing the instruments used, anasthesia, etc that also are factored into the final cost of a crown.
