I am (at least) old enough to remember it. Here are two different versions for anybody who might be interested. The Mason Williams version is the original - he composed it.
-
Why must you make me feel so ancient? :D I was in HS when that was popular.
-
Mason Williams? Nice.
-
I DO!!! Let's hear it AGAIN! -
-
Moi! I love "Classical Gas"..you have good taste! :)
-
I do! I do! Also "Love is Blue"
-
Yes, very cool.

Hell, I was 6 years old when Rock and Roll was invented. I remember practicing my favorite song, "Tammy" when I started playing guitar 50 years ago.
-
Manheim Steamroller. Good stuff...Yea, I remember it.
-
I remember when it first came out. I thought that Mason Williams was a genius. I still hear it from time to time on our "Classic Rock" radio station, and always enjoy it when it is played.
-
I do. It's a good piece of music by Mason Williams.
-
I was around 20 when that came out...I love the oldies!
-
I`m not old enough but I do know it and can play it on guitar:)
-
I'm 18 and Classical Gas was one of my favorite songs in 7th grade.
-
well I qualify and have it in my LP collection and even on single
-
Not I. Is that when Beethoven was finished with his second number? Then there was a brief flute minuetto. Beans apparently were responsible for this encore performance.

i'm old enough! I love Classical Gas.

Oh, yeah... I could ALMOST play it back in the day... BTW: check out the writer/guitarists's site (Mason Williams) http://www.masonwilliams-online.com/home.html , and MORE info about the song at http://www.classicalgas.com/ . Williams also has a version out with Mannheim Steamroller at http://shop.mannheimsteamroller.com/Classical-Gas/A/B0000005MN.htm and I believe Chip Davis (MS) also produced an album with Mike Post, who had something to do with the recording (arrangement of the orchestra?), and created many TV theme songs.

How funny, my mum used to play that when i was young on guitar and we found the old music the other week... i love it
-
Yes, I remember my Dad, and uncle Tony playing it on the bass and guitar when I was like 8.
-
I was a young teen when it first appeared. On the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour they sometimes played it with scened from history. It moved very quickly and matched the music. To this day, if it comes on the radio, i will stop what i'm doing to listen to it. It may well be the best instrumental piece of the past half century. This isn't a world changing question, but thanks for asking. For a moment it has taken me back to a happy time.
