Rear Window. Typical Hitch bulding from the normal to the terrible. Great acting and writing.

How could you guys have missed Psycho! At least I think it's Hitchcock. Maybe I'm wrong.
-
The birds. The birds. The birds. Three times for er...luck :) I liked rear window too though. How about you?

It's a tie between "North by Northwest" and "Rear Window" +5

Psycho.

Tough to make a choice, but I'll go with Shadow of a Doubt. Joseph Cotton was so charming/chilling in that role. Notorious is a very close second with Claude Rains, Ingrid Bergman, and Cary Grant. But heck, they're all good!

Rope... everytime, that is one amazing film... sowonderfully choreographed... tht is quite a skill have no real edits, the entire film is one long take (except the occasional when somone stands infront of the camera) but it is seamless... by far my favourite - so far anyway, not seen them all yet...

Rear Window

the birds it scares the hell out of me lol

I can't decide between The Birds and Psycho. Both are great in their own ways.

This is just too complex a question for a short answer. There are many Hitchcock films and each in its own way is a classic. Here are my favourites and the reasons why; "Psycho" - Awesome film shot deliberately in B&W to get a "noir" feel to it and very off-putting when the main character doesn't last more than halfway through the picture. "North By Northwest" - Fantastic visually and inspired casting (the actress playing Grant's mother was four years younger than Cary was) and Eva Marie Saint was, like all of Hitch's leading ladies... yummie! "Rope" - An Adaption of a play where Hitch attempted to shoot each reel of film as a single shot and seamlessly blend them together. Because of the noise caused by the moving of the sets out of camera range the entire soundtrack had to be "shot" separately. "Lifeboat" - The interactions of a group of people that takes place entirely within a lifeboat after a ship has been sunk by submarine. Based on a Steinbeck book it challenged Hitch to make his film more character driven than circumstance driven. His cameo was as the before picture in a newspaper article on weight-loss. "Vertigo" and "Rear Window" - Hitch's attempt at pointing out that one's psychic quirks can be useful "Rear Window" or used against us "Vertigo". "The Trouble with Harry" - Proof that murder can even be funny. "Dial M for Murder" - Hitchcock's only attempt at a 3D movie, this courtroom drama was never released in that format. And last but not least... "Rebbecca" - Based on a Daphne Du Maurier best-seller, this period piece was Hitchcock's only Oscar for best picture. Hope this helps.

He made so many great movies. A fun one, his only comedy, was "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with Robert Montgomery and Carole Lombard. Hard to choose. "Rebecca" was terrific and moody. "Vertigo" a great paranoid performance from James Stewart (whose birthday was today - May 20th). "Rear Window" "The Birds" but my favorite has to be "Psycho" Nobody does twitchy-nervous killer like Anthony Perkins. It derailed his career(most people don't know he was Oscar-nominated years earlier for "Friendly Persuasion"), but remains one of the great horror film performances ever!

THE JAR A carnival barker sells a jar containing a mysterious, hairy, octopus-like mass to Charlie Hill of Wilder's Hollow for $12.25. He shows it to his wife Thedy, who hates it. Soon everyone from miles around comes to look at the jar and wonder what is inside. Trudy and her paramour, Tom Carmody, conspire with Jahdoo, paying him $1 to steal the jar and shatter it at Heron Swamp. Charlie hurries to the swamp, but gets trapped in quicksand. Jahdoo speculates on the contents of the jar before rescuing Charlie and returning the jar. When Charlie gets home, Thedy tries to break the jar with a spoon. Charlie grabs the spoon and nearly attacks Thedy with it, so she runs away. When she comes back, she says that she visited the carnival, and the carny boss told her the jar is full of junk--wire, clay, paper, cotton, yarn, inner tube, doll's eyes, and silk. Thedy says she will tell everyone, but Charlie likes his new popularity. Written by Lewis O. Amack
