LGBT is what I see normally around here.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered: LGBT
-
These days, I usually see it as LGBT...but, either way is right.
-
It's most often LGBT, but I also see GLBT around a bit... Either way is fine, as long as people know what you mean.

The answer is yes. :o) However, with many groups, they consider that women (and lesbians in particular) have gotten short shrift over the years, and put them first. In the 70s and 80s, many groups started out "Gay and Lesbian . . ." if they remembered to mention lesbians at all. So this is a move towards equality. But the terms are equivalent at their core.

"Like many organisations, the movement underwent growing pains, and these are seen even today in the fact that there is no agreement as to whether the acronym should be GLBT or LGBT." Source and further information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT

Ladies first. I always say.

Don't feel ignorant, until you posted this question I had no clue what the letters meant; so thanks for posting it. I'm at that age where I have trouble keeping up with current phrases etc. I've learned yet another thing on AB! :-) Thanks again!

I guess it's just me, but I always use GLBT (I have no idea why) Either one is fine. They mean the same thing either way, so it doesn't really matter. In theory, you could make it TLGB or something like that and it would still mean the same thing.

It was the "L" in the acrynym that gave birth to the LGBT community movement. Therefore, i use LGBT in honor of their efforts. Im neither L,G,B or T, but ive been fighting for them for some time.
-
i think i read somewhere that there is no "technical" right or wrong... either will do. i usually say GLBT because that's the way i learned it.
-
Both are correct although LGBT is more common.
-
Both are correct. Both are academically accepted. It's like being at Starbucks and saying "Medium" instead of "Grande." You will still be getting the middle size.

GLBT

GLBT

depends where you live and what they have adapted. some people feel putting the g first gives gay more of an advantage over lesbians. i think that is reading a bit too much into it.
-
L-Lesbian G- GAy B- Bisexual T- Transgendered =)

LGBT in my opinion.
-
It is supposed to be LGBT. It's not ok to use GLBT anymore. We must all present a unified voice so as not to confuse others.
-
