What we see is the light in the atmosphere (Air and dust as well as the reflection from the ground and ocean) it turns blue.. in space it is black.

It depends on what you mean by sky. Our atmosphere has a blue tint, because shorter wavelengths like red and yellow are more easily absorbed by the molecules found in air. But so far, there really isn't a conclusive answer for why the universe appears black (with such an immense number of stars, it should be blinding), and that's referred to as Olber's Paradox.
