That depends I don't see alot of women in mining or other dangerous trades, perhaps pole dancing could be classified as a skilled trade, so yes

Of course if they are skilled. I dont dont think what you have between your legs determines what you can achieve in the work force. But, I still dont know if I want a woman firefighter???

If they were better qualified, yes I would hire a woman. No special treatment here.

During WWll woman built airplanes, ships, etc. Remember Rosie The riveter? Woman are very qualified to work in the same skilled trades that men do. I'd hire one in a min.

They face a lot of opposition, but so do working women in most areas. The problem is, people have these preconceived notions of men being good with their hands and women being biologically better in social functions - which is complete nonsense, it comes down to how children are treated differently depending on their gender. In reality, for me, gender isn't an issue at all, but there are a lot of perverts out there who can't get past what's inside your pants.

Hi so mjuch for equal oportunities now, im forces and many things which the men can do the womrn can do also. Some men are better at things than women like wise some women are better at things than men, but however everyone should be treated the same regardless to their sex. There is also more job opprotunities now for women than there ever was before too right lol i would hire a woman anyday to do the job after all we are all trained the same in skills for our jobs both Civi and military.

Absofuckinlutely. Women are in general more reliable, it seems, and, one of the most important traits to have in skilled labor, I imagine, would be reliability.

Definitely. Men and Women tend to be better than each other at different things. For tasks requiring skilled, dexterous or multi-tasking or repetitive work, Women often have the edge. I worked in Engineering for years, and the Ladies who assembled and soldered where faster and neater than me on average, but then my designs were better - so each play to their own strengths. Look at the number of skilled seamstresses for example - that's skilled stuff! Employment is best based on ability.

My father is a wall paper hanger. In the construction and completion of houses of worship which use mainly women who are skilled in trades, it has been observed by many that they are just as good or sometimes more careful and precise in work than men are. My father said that these women who hang wall paper are very neat and accurate.

I think that woman have skills that men dont I have known alot of carpenders and when it comes to the fine wood working the women I have seen well out preform the men... So, Yes I would hire and depending on what it is might prefer to have a woman if she does a better job at it.

i would hire one, but naturally i would pick the male. (AND IM FEMALE!) no im not a feminist, but we as humans just have that natural thought process that men are stronger and made tougher to do tougher things. I am training to be a firefighter for chicago, and it is a godload of hard work and strenuous activity. i can easily see the men breezing through the courses, while i struggle in back. men are just fit for the types of strenuous work, but I am diligent and hope someday someone will hire me as a female firefighter.

Women are equally capable at skilled trades (carpentry, construction, auto mechanics, etc.) as men. The problem with getting women into skilled trades has been twofold. One is, of course, sexism - men basically assuming that no woman could possibly do what they do. The other issue has been more subtle. It turns out in many skilled trades the period of apprenticeship involves doing a lot of grunt labor. For example, apprentice carpenters get stuck carrying bundles of 2"x4"s around the job site. Since this grunt work depends upon upper body strength, most women don't do well at this aspect of the work. However, if they are put in training programs that explicitly bypass the lift-heavy-objects phase, they do very well at the skilled aspects of the job. . . http://womeninthebuildingtrades.org/ . .

Here's how I judge someone's ability based upon who or what they are: What can you do, how well can you do it and how often? If I hear positive answers on all three accounts consider yourself a qualified job candidate.

Depends if their qualified to do the work. Assuming that the woman is qualified, than of course I would. (*Gasp!* no blanket statements about sexes, who would have thought!) I don't see how this issue comes down to sex at all, I know women at my gym who could easily outlift me by 100 pounds, at the same time I know other women who can't lift over 50. It's not a gender issue, but rather a qualification issue.

I would never hire one, women are far to delicate to do trade work. We must sit home and eat bonbons and wait for our menfolk to come home to take care of us. My mother just read this over my shoulder, she swatted me because she forgot what a smart aleck I am. No, she said she swatted me Because I am a smart aleck.

I think they're more reliable, they pay more attention to detail, show more interest in the job and also show less interest in socializing on site. I'd hire one right now if I could find one :)

Yes of course I would hire one if they are trained they are usually very reliable and epathetic to the home situation.

I have 5 working for me and they are the best heavy machine operators I have ever seen. In fact they are much better than any man I have ever had on the site.

I wouldn't hire a female over a male based on her beauty, niether would I hire a male over a woman based on an outdated idea of him being more intelligent. Ultimately, give me the right person for the job - male or female.

I hired a female electrician for a new construction (residential wiring) job who was very capable and did a great job. The only downside to her working there was not her fault. She happened to be quite attractive and was a distraction to the other workers on the jobsite who were all men. Some who seemed more interested in talking to her than doing their own jobs.
