I am from minnesota. I love listeneing to shy women speak Vietnamese, they say everything very dilicately, almost a whisper. I love how soft and sweet it sounds. Some Vietnamese can be very harsh to listen to, almost like perpetual whining - but the shy, sweet version is the one I like.

I am currently in Montreal, Canada ... have been here since 1990.

I speak Pacific Northwest English. My favorite accents are the British Posh, Australian broadcast (very soft, not at all like Steve Irwin or Crocodile Dundee. I was in Sydney years ago and was lulled to sleep each night by the guys chatting on the radio), and South African English (one of the doctors from a clinic I worked at was from South Africa and I could listen to him talk all day!) "English was heavily accented with Italian (Sicilian, really). What a memory." Agreed. Most Italian peninsula accents are quite lovely! As for foreign languages, Japanese, Italian, and German are my favorites to listen to.

Welsh it sounds so warm and good humoured even if you can't understand what they're saying. And why has no-one mentioned Italian or French - the most romantic languages on earth! I'm an English-speaking New Zealander so I also love Maori because of the power of the spoken word and because of the poetry in the phrasing.
