As the calendar was changed they had to have some type of feast to mark when they used to worship the fertility God, so they simply stated that Christ rose on Easter (no one really knows the date).The tradition of the Easter Bunny was kept alive. This also answers any questions as to why in the world a rabbit lays eggs (fertility rabbit).
