Contact was made in 1997. Although most of the cast still appear to be alive and still active in the movie industry, there appears to be no plans to make a sequel to contact. I would however, keep an my eyes on Variety magazine, as there are a lot of remakes being made at the moment. http://www.variety.com/

I would say that it is highly unlikely. Contact is based on a book by Carl Sagan, who died shortly before the film was released. No Sagan = no sequel

Doubtful since Carl Sagan has been dead for many a year now (and sadly missed he is). Then again when has that stopped the money machine. Dune and Foundation both continued after the primary authors' deaths but were fairly terrible to be fair.
