PLEASE tell me you wrote it anyway...
-
You wrote him a citation.
-
He's old enough to know he deserved to be caught, and to deal with the consequenses of his actions. I think he got the citation.
-
I am going to say you didn't believe him and gave him a ticket. Your not a pushover for a pitiful story like that....you nailed him right?
-
ticket, cops don't care about men crying.
-
I think you didn't!
-
citation.
-
I think it is pretty pathetic for a grown man to cry over something like this. Furthermore, it would be just as sad if it was a woman trying to throw herself at your mercy with tears. I hope you wrote this big sissy a ticket and told him to suck it up. Was this crybaby Chris Crocker?
-
Citation, I am sure. Teaching him how dangerous it is, is more important then him losing his license.
-
A citation. Now would it be different if it was a girl? From what I've heard about these things in the past, probably, sad but true.
-
You had a moment of kindness, took pity on him and gave him a warning.
-
No citation. Just a severe tongue lashing for speeding.
-
If it was 60 or 65...maybe he should have gotten a warning...but 88 in a 55? I hope you gave him a ticket.
-
Citation. This person has done this before and hasn't learned a lesson. What would happen if you let him go and he causes an accident? Or if he just gets stopped again?
-
In many states, he very well could lose his license. Write the puppy. It's not like going 60 or 65 in a 55, it's freakin' 88 MPH! That's faster than most people go on interstates and it only takes a split-second to look down or be distracted and in that time, you can go so many hundred feet... yeeeah, that's a crash just asking to happen.
-
He should have thought about that before doing it. If the speed limit is law and upholding the law is your job, then I imagine he'd get a citation and a chance to tell the judge his story :)
-
I think he got a citation. I would have given him one.
-
You gave him a citation!!!!!!!!!!
-
You definitely gave him a ticket. Now how about if it was a 21 year old girl who started to cry? :)
-
88 is pretty fast for a 55 -- I think a citation is indicated no matter what the consequences. 65 in a 55 I'd let him off with a warning.
-
I think you hauled him in. In my state anything over 25 miles is a criminal charge and you could be arrested instead of ticketed.
-
As a person with anxiety issues, I can attest to how a traffic stop can cause enough stress to cry and/or catastrophize the situation. I feel that every time a bill collector calls. However, this is obviously a habitual offender, and a rather blatant one at that. If you had yanked him for 68 in a 55 then I might be able to let him go with a warning, but 88? Eighty-fucking-eight? Sorry, but if I had that much to lose, I would be a bit more cautious behind the wheel. This guy deserves a ticket. As my boss is so fond of saying, "We cause our own pain".
-
I hope you cited him. I wouldn't want anyone I love, including myself having to share the road with someome that reckless.
-
Citation! Don't care what his boo hoo excuse was, if he was that worried about it he wouldn't have been going that fast in the first place!
-
Driving conditions can play a factor, but even an experenced driver with a well amintained car is going to have trouble justifing 88 in a 55MPH rated zone. Prima Faica Ticket. possibly reckless driving.
-
Boo friggin' hoo. 88 in a 55 is inexcusable. What POSSIBLE reason could he have? If he was so worried about losing his license, he should have minded the speed limit. Now, he will learn the consequences of his actions. Give him the citation.
-
Citation, that was just too much over the limit to ignore.
-
Citation or no citation? what do you think? answers so far, are 80% yes and 20$ no. 88 mph in a 55 zone. did the speeder change my mind, by crying? More to come.
-
The final results.....citation or no citation? C I T A T I O N!!!! Anytime i have to go 120 mph to catch someone going 88 mph, a citation is forthcoming. You are correct, this driver made his own destiny. he knew the end results, once he received that final citation. As i left him, he was still crying.
-
If you were doing your job, you either cited him, or, after running his license, arrested him and/or impounded the vehicle.
-
wow u about toped out the car if u are driving an intercepter which cuts off at like 130
-
What would he say, or how would you feel if he at 88 MPH ran over a child because his speed did not allow him enough time to stop? Answer: His excuse wouldn't matter..too late. Answer: You would be just as guilty as the driver. Ticket him & leave the rest to his parents & the judge.
-
Thanks everyone for your replies.
-
I hope it was a citation! 88 at 21 is just asking for a disaster later. He should have thought long and hard about losing everything before he did it. Must mean his parents would take his car and license and then couldn't drive to work. Loosing it now is better than loosing it later when he never learned a lesson and possibly hurts himself or someone.
-
I hope you gave the crybaby a ticket, only females should be able to get away with the crying thing.
-
He'd get done, 100% sure that's what happens.
-
He got off easy because the cop was his uncle.
-
BUSTED! he should be glad he wasnt in virginia. 20mph+ over is automatic reckless driving an mandatory court appearance. at least he didnt come back w/ a lame excuse or try to bribe you w/ a box of krispy kremes. what a dunbass!
-
... "tell it to the judge, and if your next job, next car, and next license have any importance to you at all, you WILL slow down willingly, not by force." Citation earned, and deserved.
-
ahhh, so you're a policeman...cool..good to have lil mercy sometimes..
-
no mercy he chose to do the speed and could of killed someone. Funny how all he said was me me me
-
31 over...... in Texas the fine would be doubled... I hope you slapped his license hard.
-
Very dangerous - citation.
-
Definitely a citation. Creeping up around 60-65mph, maybe a slap on the wrist - if its the first time. But 88mph in a 55 zone is deliberate. You don't push 33mph (that's over 50kph over the limit) by accident or ignorance. That's deliberate. There is no way I would let a clown like that off for something that bad. Whether or not speed kills is irrelevant: the law is the law, and if he's going to deliberately break the law, he's going to get punished. For that kind of speeding, I would have impounded his car. For us in Australia - 50kph over the limit is almost instant jail territory... Rightly so, too.
-
Citation, apparently, he didn't value his car or job enough to abide by the speed limits. Perhaps this will REALLY drive home the message.
-
He got a ticket of course.
-
slapped him with a ticket! maybe 2, one for speeding and one for being a crybaby!
-
well first I guess I would look at the circumstance's was a family member rushed to the hospital?,did he have a family emergency
-
Twenty six mph over or more is an automatic court appearance in my state, and to make sure that he got to his court date without speeding, I'd take him to jail, so that they could give him a ride to his arraignment.
-
and what if when you pulled him over he flashed his badge and was a cop, would you still question ticketing?
-
Throw the book at the SOB
-
If there was only light traffic, he wasn't drinking, and no other danger, I'd just give him a warning. If he would of gotten into a accident, if there was clear and present danger, or if he had been drinking, of course I'd give him a citation or possible worse. Some people can drive safely a fast speeds. It's not worth ruining someone's life over though. This is America, not a fascist police state, with authority figures trying to ruin lives. Save lives; don't ruin them.
