  • A year-old issue of ChristianityToday put the number of Catholics in North America at 80 million: https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2005/114/24.0.html Most sources I see online seem to indicate a number of 80-90 million: http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/19/23/Ent/cover.html http://www.biblebelieversbaptist.org/catholicism.html http://thephora.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2424 According to my '98 Desk Reference, there are 900 million Roman Catholics worldwide and 60 million in the U.S. (interestingly there were 36 million baptists in the U.S., which likely has increased quite a bit). There are 218 million followers of the Orthodox Church and over 5 million in the U.S. Of course this info will have changed a bit and tells only the United States numbers. This education site put the '98 # for Catholics in North America at 65 million: http://www.bvmcong.org/salt/index.cfm?archive=43 The one other site I came across, a Catholic one, interestingly put the number at TWO-HUNDRED MILLION which I think it's safe to assume is false. http://www.dailycatholic.org/issue/martext/mar30txt.htm
