At times I used to hate it sitting in the back, listening to my mother carry on like a performing seal ,at the old man your going to fast ,your going the wrong way ect. As long as she was whinging she was happy the more unhappy the rest of us were the happier she seamed to be. Driving around going nowhere wasting fuel is my memory of the drives. Riding in the family car when it was just me and the oldman in his old truck that went bush that was fun, my mum never ever rode in that car it was too dirty and she didn't like mud.

Yeah...but that was back when gasoline was 25 cents a gallon in New York State. It's not environmentally or financially sound, now.

It seems that nearly anywhere you go these days near the city there is traffic. I remember Sunday drives where there was road freedom 10 minutes away. No more.

I still do it. Going for a long drive, especially on a Sunday can help clear your mind.
