  • Popcorn itself is a healthy snack. It's all the butter or sugar or caramel we dress it up with that isn't healthy. 4/11/25
  • No, popcorn is a healthy snack for every age group. It is rich in various macro and micro nutrients. Loading popcorn with butter and salt is unhealthy for you.
  • Well...that depends on how it's made, or topped. * In general it's not too bad. Popcorn is whole grain, for one thing. * If you cook it so that it tastes good - by which I mean: in a pot, with oil - then it's not so good for you. Personally I like mine pot-cooked with salt (no butter required). * Similarly: if you get the "extreme butter" microwave stuff, or the "theater butter" stuff, it's not so good for you. * But it's probably better for you than - say - the typical fried corn chip (Fritos, Doritos). * It's probably NOT better for you than the typical fried potato chip (potatoes have lots of good stuff in them, especially compared to corn). * The main problem is not the food itself, but the amount that is eaten. Control portions and you control the worst part of the snack to the point that it isn't really bad for you any more.
  • It's fine as long as it's not sugary.
