The 3rd commandment warns us against that action. Observant Jews won't even spell God out, they will write G-d to avoid Taking His name in vain. However, God is not His name, it is His "title". Taking God’s name in vain is more than just not saying, “OMG” or using it as a curse word. And that’s not the primary message that God is trying to communicate. He’s much more concerned with what we do IN His name and not WITH His name. Regardless of all that, He is said to be forgiving and merciful.
