In my (very limited) experience, it's the same as air freshener. And: not very powerful air freshener at that. However: I've known people - ladies, one and all - who swear by it. Maybe like the way people taste food differently, people also smell odors differently? And I'm still smelling the stuff that the ladies in question can't smell, because febreeze has suppressed only some of the odors, the odors that the ladies *can* smell?

It masks smells, the same as an air freshener, and like an air freshener it contains Volatile Organic Compounds, which are cancer causing.
