True or False: Answerbag would be a better place without the comments feature?
12/2/2023, you never know, the AB administration could be reading your answer. Some users don't like to be harassed in the comments section, others don't care. Whatever helps this site grow, then I'm up for it.

You make a point about users being harassed in the comments section but the user who is doing the harassing can be reported. Whatever makes the site grow means a report feature on harassing comments and to still allow for comments that are respectful and civil. Anyone who goes against the rules should get 3 warnings and on the third warning, their account should be removed by administration. With each warning, they should be in the penalty box. I hope the Answerbag administration sees my answer so my voice can be heard.

They will make an argument appear like it's for educational purposes. That's how they get away with arguing. -

Shadow Of The Mind I know what you mean. It would be great if administration could fix that so as only the comments from the person who is harassing get deleted and not the comments coming from the person being harassed.

Shadow Of The Mind I know what you mean. When an Answerbag user keeps at it with their comments, I guess the only thing to do is tell them to stop but some people don’t listen and keep going. I understand now why comments should be taken down permanently from the website so as to avoid conflict and harassment.

It depends on the point of the site. If it is to provide the best information, then comments are crucial. If I answer a question with something misleading or misunderstood, how else is that going to get cleared up? I think a lot of people just come here to try to socialize, and then get overly sensitive if their answers open up any sort of conversation that goes beyond "great answer" / "way to go" /etc. And, if the point of the site is supposed to be merely for vapid social ego reinforcement, then comments should be disabled. False for me.

I invite everyone to comment on every answer I provide if they believe that I was inaccurate or unhelpful. I don't think most answers are misleading, but a fair percentage of them are. I can think of two users in particular who often post answers that were extremely misleading with respect to accepted facts, and I was maybe the only one who challenged them to justify the facts they presented. Other people would sometimes take the opportunity to insult them without addressing the information presented, or sometimes agree with them, or sometimes ignore them. Unless we discuss our ideas with each other, we just turn into our own personal bubble echo chambers and we never let our minds grow. -

I see, but not everyone feels the same as you do. You have to put yourself in the position of others. If you don't think most answers are misleading, then certainly there will still be (a good amount of misleading answers). It's totally fine to start discussions. Not everyone appreciates it for the reason of feeling harassed.
