Many of the name brand items are in smaller package sizes. That's good if you're travelling and just need enough for a couple of days.

Apart from the stores in the malls, dollar stores have always sold boxed and canned food. Personally I think I get a better deal at WalMart. (Dollar stores usually sell smaller packages for $1, I can get WalMart store brand, it seems to me larger packages for less than $1). *** I saw a news article that described people flocking to dollar stores to save money, and in neighborhoods without a mega discount grocery like a Super Walmart or Super K-Mart, they're probably saving money, and good for them.
