I earned minimum wage when I first started to work. I lived in an apartment and shared expenses with a roommate. Some people who earn minimum wage may have one or more roommates.

I've known very many people and have been working 2 or 3 jobs just to make the rent. Our apartments were rarely slept in by us, and almost always, the idiot roommate one has to get screws it up for us if not everybody.

I've lived on minimum wage most of my life and was a single parent. With little to no help financially from the father. First of all you have to cut your own hair do your own nails shop at Aldi and the thrift stores. Walmart if you must. All entertainment must be free. The library has internet. Apply for any assistance to which you are entitled. Which may include SNAP (food stamps) and section 8 housing assistance and / or medicaid. That way you only have to pay one third of your income for housing. That's what I'm on now. While I was raising my son I bought a trailer and was able to pay that off after ten years, but I lost the land I wanted to put it on. You must live frugally, which means you mend your clothes instead of buying new ones and learn how to get stains out. Hair spray gets out ink and marker. WD-40 gets out oil stains and dish detergent gets out the WD-40. Give up your cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, including coffee. Give up meat, already prepared meals and unnecessary snacks. Snack on fruits and vegetables. Keep a snack tray in the fridge. Buy root vegetables, onions, potatoes, carrots. Eat beans, rice and other grains for protein and low fat dairy. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese, tomato sandwiches and homemade soups are cheap. Oatmeal can make oat milk very cheaply, and it is a cheap meal as well. Did I mention eggs and egg sandwiches? If that's not enough make your own bread. Give up sodas and juices. Drink water. Look up a recipe for granola you can make with oats as well. Throw in some peanuts and keep that in your glove box so you never never have to stop for fast food. Take your lunch to work. Take water with you everywhere you go. I freeze half a bottle so it will have ice all day long. How much will these suggestions trim from your budget and how much more do you need to trim. I have more suggestions. Oh and stop buying paper products. Use cloth napkins and towels and wash them. You may have toilet paper! lol You're welcome. Oh I forgot the last thing. Take public transportation or carpool.
