Yes. I’m downsizing and reevaluating what I really need. I want to work less and save more, with the goal of buying a home. I’ve been broke since birth though so it’s hard to squeeze even more haha

Linda JoyHave you read any Suze Orman or Dave Ramsay books? What about The Tightwad Gazette or Hillbilly Housewife? I think that last one may be a web page. I've been poor all my life. I'm good at it. I can tell others how to be good at it. But I can't tell you how to get rich. Oh, that reminds me of another book you can listen to online called Rich Dad Poor Dad. My son had it, but I just couldn't focus on it. I'm not in it for the money anyway so maybe that's why. Good luck! Oh and after loosing everything I own three times over in two years when I was homeless, I have a different perspective on 'things' than I used to. I also like the tiny houses, but I'm a hoarder and minimalism and hoarder is like a mental hiccup! How do you resolve that?!

AskingForaFriendI read some Suze Orman stuff in the past. No Dave Ramsey. And I did not enjoy Rich Dad Poor Dad. Never heard of the other two but I'm interested just based on the titles! I'm not wanting to be rich (I have this chip on my shoulder where I think that "rich" people are greedy, aggressive, materialistic, and step on others to get there). I just want to work less, have a bigger cushion, and buy a small modest home with some privacy and nature. I'm getting there! I was left financially ruined after my kid and his dad died years ago, but have made a pretty good comeback already. Do you think that the hoarding came after you lost everything a few times? I lost everything once and it has made me hesitant to own anything I can't fit into a car

Linda JoyI used to move a lot as a kid (transferred schools 20 times before graduation). And I've been poor. That makes you afraid to throw away anything you might need later. I'm inventive and resourceful so I can 'make________ out of that'. But from the limited research I've done on the subject loosing someone close to you is often a trigger or intensifier of the illness. My father left when I was two and my 5 older sisters started leaving and were gone by the time I was in 2nd grade. By 6 th grade they were all (6) gone from home and by 30 I'd suffered a divorce and my son's father came back to take my son away while my mom was dying of cancer so I was on my own and mentally messed up. There was other suff... abuse and such, but the research says often it's triggered by the loss of a loved one. That's been multiplied in my life. But knowing why doesn't help much in my progress and healing. What did your child and his dad die of?

Linda JoyHere's a link to the $45 emergency menu for 4. I'm sure its changed over the years. But from a single's point of view you can prepare portion and freeze in a single portion or plate format. I always get the more economic family meat pack when I buy meat, cook it and portion it in sandwich bags then freeze in a freezer container. You could make a meal for 4 and freeze 3 plates and eat one. Now that I think about it that $45 plan could just as easily feed one person for almost a month! I usually focus on buying a little extra of what's on sale and putting it up for when the price is higher. https://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/40dollarmenu.htm

Linda JoyThe Tightwad Gazette was originally a newspaper column that turned into several books that are now available in one large compilation.

Nope. I still put $100 back from each check.

And you've been doing this how long? How much have you saved, and what are you saving it for?
