Oh man. That's a serious question and yet it really struck my funny bone! It's a very strict rule that they should remain politically neutral and not vote. And at the same time they are also required to follow the law of the land and obey the government they live under *unless* it conflicts with their beliefs. And sometimes their beliefs can change as they "come to a better understanding of the scriptures." I would hope they would learn from how the JW ban in Russia went and allow themselves to vote against such a candidate. But, my guess is that they would not. And I would hope that the rest of us would vote to protect them too.

It is a strict rule. Why? Because Jesus at John 17 v 14 said "I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them because they are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world." Being no part of the world means not taking sides in political matters. Therefore JWs will not vote, nor will they go to war or take up arms against another. But that does not mean they do not obey the laws of the land. Whichever country they are in, even if not a citizen of that country, they will obey the law whether it be paying taxes, traffic laws or criminal law. However, should the requirement of the country conflict with the law of God then God takes precedence. See Acts 5 v 28.

This is a very good question. As stated in an earlier comment we remain neutral to the political system of this world for scriptural reasons. #1 1John 5:19 tells us that the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one, which tells us that Satan controls this whole world. #2 Daniel 2;44 tells us, “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever, This Kingdom or government will put a stop to all other governments. Mankind can never fix its own problems. It's no longer a rule.

Jehovah's witness says don't have a rule that you're not supposed to vote. Instead they will tell you that Jesus said to be no part of this world's system if you are for Jesus you abstain from involving yourself in the wicked affairs of this world. But at the same time you obey what the word of God says you give unto Caesar the things that are Caesar and you give unto God the things that are God. God has given to you one vote. God didn't tell you to go around promoting whoever that you're going to vote for that's not what we're supposed to do that's politics. We're supposed to promote Jesus Christ in the name of God. And on voting day if you want to go cast your vote for who you think God wants you to cast it for then by all means you must be a proper stewardship of what God has given you. But a Christian does not go around promoting the things of Caesar. A Christian promotes the things of God. If you're going to vote go cast your vote but don't bring it to the Kingdom Hall and talk about it. Somebody's bound to take offense you'll get yourself in trouble if you start talking about it. If somebody happens to say I saw you at the voting polls. Really what were you doing there? That should leave them with a mouth full of teeth
