Good luck with that. There are no gods - and nobody in history has ever proven there is.
  • Satan is very powerful...much stronger than us...So we must rely on Jehovah God to eliminate him [ Satan ] And Jehovah has given the job to Jesus... (Revelation 6:2) And I saw, and look! a white horse, and the one seated on it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went out conquering and to complete his conquest. Bow and horse indicate warfare...between Jesus and wickedness... Weapons of warfare in Jesus' day. No horses were used then in domestic work. Only in warfare.
    • Texasescimo
Very nice and clear answer showing that God has given Jesus the authority and responsibility to destroy Satan. The first prophecy in the Bible shows that Jehovah set up a remedy very early to fulfill his purpose of having a paradise earth with righteous humans living forever in perfect health and happiness. (Genesis 3:15) And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your offspring and her offspring. He will crush your head, and you will strike him in the heel.? (1 John 3:8) The one who practices sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest, to break up the works of the Devil. (Hebrews 2:14) Therefore, since the ?young children? are sharers of blood and flesh, he also similarly shared in the same things, so that through his death he might bring to nothing the one having the means to cause death, that is, the Devil, (Revelation 11:15) The seventh angel blew his trumpet. And there were loud voices in heaven, saying: ?The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever.? (Revelation 20:1, 2) And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years. (Revelation 21:3, 4) With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: ?Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.?

  • God exists within you as you....

Only in as much as we think about HIM [ Jehovah ] during our lives..HE exists apart from us as a spiritual individual

1 Cor 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
    • pugwashjw65
The word "ghost"is a mis-translation...It implies an existence of something that has previously been alive on the earth...Jesus was but cannot be termed the holy ghost,,,It should be "the holy SPIRIT which is Jehovah Gods POWER ...a force... and NOT an identity...as Jesus was, The Total Catholic Church is wrong in this and has been included in the list of FALSE religions which the governments of this world will destroy...2 Timothy 3: 5-7 and Revelation 14:8... The World empire of false religion...
  • A lot of people have prayed for God to save them before being killed. But, I guess he doesn't work that way. Save yourself because no one else will.
    • mushroom
The term "evil" is being used differently here -- a lack of faith in the prescribed manner, rather than garden variety hatred, cruelty and persecution.
    • Archie Bunker
Well, I think that evil is subjective (a discussion I had with Linda). It's up to the individual to decide what's evil and it's also up to them to decide what to do about it, if anything.
    • Cry me a River
That doesn’t sound very conservative there Arch.. aren’t you portrayed as being conservative as Archie Bunker??
    • Archie Bunker
I'm politically conservative, Ruby. Faith is a different issue for me. No one can tell you what your faith is or isn't, it's up to the individual to decide for themselves. As I said above, it's up to the individual to decide what's evil and what isn't.
    • Cry me a River
I have a book, God’s Word on it.. it,s how He sees things that matter
    • Archie Bunker
So I go back to what I originally said. It's subjective since the Bible doesn't tell you everything that is or isn't evil. It's up to us to decide that.
    • Cry me a River
I disagree wholeheartedly.. the Bible has all we need to know! the only people I know who are truly happy. have read and believe the Book!
    • Archie Bunker
I'm truly happy. Does that mean that I have to have read the Bible? I know Buddhists who are truly happy and never even touched a Bible. But back to the topic of the question, what's evil. Some people say war is evil. Others think it's not. Your faith tells you whether or not it is since that's not objective thing.
    • pugwashjw65
Have buddhists ever expressed their purpose on the earth???
    • Chicagoan
"I have a book, God’s Word on it.." And yet, neither you nor anyone else can prove their god is real. What a shame...
  • With God, we gain wisdom to overcome evil with good. Jeremiah 9:23-24 "Thus says the LORD: Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I Am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the Earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD."

Hi Jenny...Give this some thought...almighty God has a name...Jehovah...Some translations have wrongly removed it from the Bible because of the fault thinking that it is TOO holy to say...But jesus DID...Jesus stated to make his father's name...MANIFEST...To publicise it...NOT to hide it. So where you cite " the LORD" is just confusing. Example...Luke 20: 42...Your translation comes out as " My LORD said to my Lord...when in fact it should be " Jehovah said to my Lord [ Jesus ] ...sit at my right hand... I look forward to your response.
    • Jenny's Gone On Vacation
Quote: "Some translations have wrongly removed it from the Bible because of the fault thinking that it is TOO holy to say..." The question in this subject is not about knowing God's name. So your comment does not go against my answer. Quote: "So where you cite " the LORD" is just confusing." Let me refresh your mind. The word LORD in definition means someone having Divine power, authority and influence.
    • Texasescimo
Jehovah is not just someone having Divine anything. He is the True God. Why keep name of false gods like Baal and Molech in the Bible but remove Jehovah? Who are the Lords in the following verses? 1 Samuel 1:26 (KJV) And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. Psalm 110:1 (KJV) The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 1 Kings 1:17 (KJV) And she said unto him, My lord, thou swarest by the Lord thy God unto thine handmaid, saying, Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.
    • pugwashjw65
Hey ! Texas...See how confusing is the scripture from the KJV,," The Lord said unto MY Lord..." The FIRST Lord there is Jehovah...and the second Lord is Jesus, who is sitting at Jehovah's right hand...By removing the name, just complicates matters un- necessarily.
    • Jenny's Gone On Vacation
Texasescimo, quote: "Jehovah is not just someone having Divine anything. He is the True God." There is no such thing as Jehovah. To speak about the Father in whom no one today knows His name, Jesus is the only name to rely on. Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
    • Jenny's Gone On Vacation
pugs, quote: "By removing the name, just complicates matters un- necessarily." Scripture is not complicated. The New Testament only speaks of the name of Jesus in order to be saved.

(John 17:6) “I have made your name manifest to the men whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word. (John 17:26) I have made your name known to them and will make it known, so that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.” (Hebrews 2:12) as he says: “I will declare your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you with song.” (Psalm 22:22, 23) I will declare your name to my brothers; In the midst of the congregation I will praise you. 23 You who fear Jehovah, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him! Stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel.

(Romans 10:11-15) For the scripture says: “No one who rests his faith on him will be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. There is the same Lord over all, who is rich toward all those calling on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him if they have not put faith in him? How, in turn, will they put faith in him about whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent out? Just as it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!” (Joel 2:32) And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, just as Jehovah has said, The survivors whom Jehovah calls.” (Psalm 9:10) Those knowing your name will trust in you; You will never abandon those seeking you, O Jehovah. (Acts 2:21) And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.”’

(Exodus 3:15) Then God said once more to Moses: “This is what you are to say to the Israelites, ‘JEHOVAH the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ THIS is my name FOREVER, and this is how I am to be remembered from generation to generation. (Psalm 135:13) O Jehovah, your name endures forever. O Jehovah, your fame endures for all generations. (Psalm 83:18) May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth. (Psalm 110:1) Jehovah declared to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand Until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.” (Acts 2:34, 35) For David did not ascend to the heavens, but he himself says, ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand 35 until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.”’

Texasescimo, quote: "(John 17:6) “I have made your name manifest to the men whom you gave me out of the world." Along with your passages from the book of Psalm: that was before Jesus became the author of Salvation in the crucifixion. This is why there is no other name under Heaven given to mankind whereby we must be saved in the New Testament. (Acts 4:12) Too easy!
  • No human has ever been able to get rid of evil otherwise we would have peace on the earth now. .the Bible already has predicted who will get rid of the one who has caused the evil and suffering on the earth revelation 12:7-12 7 And war broke out in heaven: Miʹcha·el*+ and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but they did not prevail,* nor was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon+ was hurled, the original serpent,+ the one called Devil+ and Satan,+ who is misleading the entire inhabited earth;+ he was hurled down to the earth,+ and his angels were hurled down with him. 10 I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come to pass the salvation+ and the power and the Kingdom of our God+ and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God!+ 11 And they conquered him+ because of the blood of the Lamb+ and because of the word of their witnessing,+ and they did not love their souls*+ even in the face of death. 12 On this account be glad, you heavens and you who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea,+ because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing that he has a short period of time.”
  • Once evil has been eliminated Jesus as King of Gods Kingdom Government will achieve what was foretold in psalms 37:9-11 9 For evil men will be done away with,+ But those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth.+ 10 Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more;+ You will look at where they were, And they will not be there.+ 11 But the meek will possess the earth,+ And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. Verse 29 :The righteous will possess the earth,+ And they will live forever on it.+ Revelation 21:4 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes,+ and death will be no more,+ neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.+ The former things have passed away.

Jesus as King of Gods with a capital "G?" You just proved Jesus is God. *Facepalm*
    • pugwashjw65
Hey Jenny...re-read my comment...I said ...and I quote...Jesus is the King of God's KINGDOM...Jehovah has crowned him as such...(Revelation 6:2) And I saw, and look! a white horse, and the one seated on it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went out conquering and to complete his conquest. CROWN WAS GIVEN [ TO ] HIM...by Jehovah his father.
    • Jenny's Gone On Vacation
You have it all twisted. Everyone reading this thread can see that you said NOTHING about Revelation 6:2 in your answer. *Another Facepalm*
    • Texasescimo
Pretty sure the only part he meant as a quote was the parts between the first and second sets of three periods, not Rev 6:2. But who gave Jesus His crown? Are David and Solomon God? (1 Chronicles 17:14) I will cause him to stand in my house and in my kingship forever, and his throne will last forever.”’” (1 Chronicles 28:5) And of all my sons—for Jehovah has given me many sons—he chose my son Sol?o·mon to sit on the throne of the kingship of Jehovah over Israel. (1 Chronicles 29:23) And Sol?o·mon sat on Jehovah’s throne as king in place of David his father, and he was successful, and all the Israelites were obedient to him. (Revelation 5:10) and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”
    • pugwashjw65
Explain " facepalm" ...Even an insult is ineffective if no one understands it.
    • Jenny's Gone On Vacation
Texasescimo, quote: "Pretty sure the only part he meant as a quote was the parts between the first and second sets of three periods," Not exactly. Your views CONTRADICT Scripture, since we should be crystal clear when posting. Romans 1:19 "For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them."

  • We are not powerful enough to do so...Only Jesus can get this done... (Revelation 6:2) And I saw, and look! a white horse, and the one seated on it had a bow; and a crown was given him, and he went out conquering and to complete his conquest. (Revelation 20:10) And the Devil who was misleading them was hurled into the lake of fire and sulfur, where both the wild beast and the false prophet already were; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. • James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The Lord Is My Shepherd A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 1 John 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Hebrews 10:26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, Luke 10:27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” James 1:10 For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Coloss 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. So we must rely on God in everything we do, anything else is lawlessness, there has to be a name a law behind the things we do, without God's name we act in lawlessness and idolatry of ourselves, which can lead to pride, selfishness and wickedness.
  • You're confused. Evil is like wind - you cannot and do not "get rid of it" without causing other terrible issues. Instead you need to be pragmatic and shelter yourself from it and avoid its effects as best you can.
  • As long as this world is under the control of satan and his demons, evil will exist (1John 5:19). However, the good news is that soon, God will eradicate all evil (satan and his demons) from the earth and peace will be abundant (Psalm 37:10,11). We have to work hard to avoid being influenced by Satan so as not to miss out on the opportunity to experience all of the blessings that our loving God has in store for humankind.
  • Well, mankind has had 6000 years to get rid of evil. Man is not capable of ruling themselves, evil is worst now than anytime in history, so it's up to God to rid the earth of evil. And that is what Jehovah is going to do in the very near future. God’s Kingdom will replace all human governments and rule over the entire earth. Daniel 2:44; Revelation 16:14 Once that happens, God’s Kingdom will Remove the wicked, whose selfishness harms us all. “As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth.” Proverbs 2:22.
  • We rely upon God and the word of God to guide us into what physical actions that we as human beings need to take and then we don't set idly by praying for a miracle to come from heaven. We do exactly what the Bible says that we're supposed to do we become the hands and the feet of Jesus Christ and we put into action what God Said to put into action. If you want a miracle then create a miracle. God promises you that if you need knowledge and wisdom he'll be glad to supply it to you. But you can be the smartest man in the world and have all the scientific evidence in the world. But if you won't lift your hands to tie your shoes then what good is all that knowledge yeah it is up to the individual persons to get some work done
  • Clearly we are unable.
  • Both has had 2–3 million years to git-er-done! Both failed miserably. Both can think up lotsa retarded excuses why they failed, neither likes to take responsibility for their failures, and both loves to pass the buck! Looks like evil is here to stay.
  • Ourselves.. just paint everything a soothing delicate shade of pink and everything evil will flee.😇
  • Both God will give us the courage to fight against it but we have to do our part as well.
  • Well friend that's a twofold answer you rely on yourself to do the proper actions in order to achieve the proper results but you get the information to make your life changes from the word of God and then you put it into practice
  • man should get rid of evil
  • I think people who are stuck on evil paths they also believe in God.
  • Both. God will gives the knowledge and desire to get of evil in or lives through a constant study of God's Word (The Bible). But we have a duty to be disciplined in the process.
  • The evil would remain on us until we know the command and religion of God. Religion is the way to reach God but most people are stuck in fake religions who made their own guidelines. Scripture tells us there was a master of Jesus Christ. (i.e Saint John who baptized Jesus Christ) If Christ reached to God through a saint, Can you reach God yourself? Answer: No. You will get master when there will be salvation in your fate.
  • Getting rid of evil is as easy as not practicing it. Therefore, it's a job for the individual, not God.
