  • Think about loud, bold, clashing colour schemes. You could use primary colours, like Rubik's Cube, Pac-Man, Lite Brite, etc., or pastels, like so many popular clothes featured at the time. Denim was a big deal back then, so if you want to go all out, you could use that in the room, but also wacky art-deco shapes like squiggles and isoscales triangles were in style, especially with polka dots. And although wood paneling gained prominence in the 70's, there was still plenty of it left in the 80's.
