Acting like you are happy (whether you are or not) will do the most to actually becoming a more happy person. The more consistantly you do this (alone or arond other people) the more effective it is.

Every person you see in public tomorrow ask them hey how's it going or how's your day? Or when you leave somewhere say to the person take care. Just try it it'll make you feel good

go and buy a 4 wheel drive or a race car plenty of old blokes enjoy the ole v8 at full noise down the back straight at their closet race way. Or the 4wd at full noise in low climbing a steep hill throwing mud in all directions.
