I "see" that you're trying to get us to do your homework. Why didn't you do it yourself? Did they give you the supplies to do it with? Is that why you couldn't do a simple observational exercise? You do know how to google, right? I've actually done this before. Not as an observational exercise. I did it to sprout the wheat. Its also used to test the viability of your wheat berries or wheat seeds as they are referred to here. If less than 7 of 10 sprout get new seeds. First you will see air bubbles leaving the seed/berry. The seeds will begin to swell. After 8 hours or so the berry will become saturated and will be about twice the size of your original seed. If you don't change or drain the water it will begin to mold, decompose, rot. A day or two later you will see the tip of a root emerge from the bottom of the berry. If you want sprouts, now is the time to taste them. You will quickly learn at which stage you like them best. If you wait long enough they will start to grow a stem. This is when some of the stored energy and nutrition from the seed is used to begin growing the plant. If you plan to grow them into wheat grass its best to plant after the initial 8 hour soaking so none of the sprout buds are damaged. I have planted them up to 2 days after and had good results. If you want to eat the wheat grass or juice it, its best to harvest at about 6". You can get a second harvest as well. If you let it mature it will grow more wheat berries for your next experiment. Actually I think you may still be able to get wheat berries online free for this experiment. Its much more interesting to do the experiment yourself.
