G. K. Chesterton, British author of early 20th century "Father Brown" detective fiction. Children invent all kinds of things, and we adults seem to do our best to dispel them of their inventions.

true, dont know who said it

False. That's like saying "The news doesn't tell us what's happened. We already assume the worst. It simply tells us things could be worse, still". A lot of quotes by fictions authors are bullcrap made to sound philosophical.

Children wouldn't know what a dragon was unless we told them. Good parents open their minds up to the possibilities.

I knew evil long before I knew what a dragon was! And no one had to tell me. -

Who says dragons are evil? And even what is evil is subjective. -
Linda Joy
I didn't hear anyone say it. And I don't think evil is subjective. -
Archie Bunker
Some people thought that Hitler was evil. Others obviously didn't. That makes it subjective. Children's minds are a blank slate. It's their environment that tells them what is and what isn't.

Nope. It sounds like a good quote but is utter bullshit. The original purpose of "fairy tales" was to store knowledge of a people. Way before paper was invented people had to remember events and information. Making them into stories was easier to remember than chipping them into a rock. Children were little to do with it until hey became commercial markets for "authors" around the 18th century.
