I am a international student from China, don't judge me, and I want to apply to a college in US and study math. I am very interested in math, especially functional analysis and chaos theory. This summer, I joined a summer camp called "awesome math", and those tricky problems about combinatorics and number theory really stumped me. I haven't joined a lot of competitions and I've never done any trainning about this kind of problems. But I still felt that this is just an excuse for my low IQ. I used to think that this kind of problems (the Olympiad things) are not what real mathematicians do and think. But now I am not sure whether this is just an illusion. I felt very depressed about math and I am skeptical about my future. I am not a stupid student, for instance, I can basically do everything pretty well in high school level as well as some math areas that are more about functions instead of numbers. But when it comes to the IMO or AMC problems, I have literally no idea. I don't have any method to solve the problem and to deal with the numbers. But it is very clear that I can understand everything theoretically. I felt so bad and I am very worried about my future.
