You didn't have all this foolishness going on in the classroom when kids were sent to the principal's office for some cracks from the paddle. They need to bring back corporal punishment and let the teachers smack some sense into these entitled little assholes.

I graduated from my schooling prior to the Columbine shooting. Things were quite different way back then. No metal detectors, no security, no nothing. Corporal punishment was banned when I was 9 years old. My roughest year in school, though, was kindergarten, when I was stabbed in the lower abdomen by another student with a broken bottle. Things didn't really change, from my experience, when they banned corporal punishment, and from what I see in the news, all of the metal detectors and zero tolerance policies are also marginally effective. Kids are mean. Most kids would think twice if a teacher was watching, but not all of them ever cared. Honestly, the best way to deal with the issue is to isolate violent kids from the rest, so that the average student can have a safe and fruitful education. The violent kids are not likely to learn to behave, so they might as well just not be around to ruin it for everyone else.

Archie BunkerIt all starts at home. Learning respect for authority and that there are consequences for every action. Those principles aren't taught anymore.

bostjan the adequate 🥉Maybe there aren't consequences for every action, though, or at least not that have a negative effect on the perpetrator. There are a lot of bad people out there, and a lot of them get away with their behaviour. It goes all the way back to early history, too.
