I wonder why we specify that tuna is fish like they go together, but we never specify any other fish that way unless it's part of the fishes name like catfish or swordfish we don't say salmon fish or pollock fish or tilapia fish. Tuna fish! And what about horseback riding? What other part of the horse do you ride? And I've already mentioned calling a water heater a hot water heater. It doesn't heat hot water it heats cold water. If the water was hot it wouldn't need to be heated. And what about phrases like getting caught red-handed? I heard that in Spanish they say getting caught with your hands in the dough. Fingers in the till? And why is it that when you're doing accounting being in the red is bad but when they printed Jesus's words in the Bible they put them in red what's up with that? And why does being blue mean you're sad? And going back to some old standard Gallagher quotes why do they call them Apartments when they're all stuck together? Why do you park in a driveway and drive in a Parkway? Why do they call them buildings when they're already finished? What are some other things you you pick up just because it's customary and not really think about what you're saying? Why do people ask you how you're doing when they don't even stick around long enough to hear the answer? Zoom! Gone! C'ya! And why do people who normally wouldn't lie lie and say they're doing fine when they're not? I don't think they have a category for internet meanderings.
