Ice man Most of those are very humorous (I loved -press here & receive bacon here) and much of them I'd call art. I live in a small college/university town and the students paint garbage (not art) on everything. Then the town pays to clean the crap off. It wouldn't be so bad if any of them had talent. (Rich kids) On the up-side ... a few were caught and Daddy got the bill. -

Living in a more well-to-do suburb there is no graffiti but I have seen art books of them and of course in cities they often commission art on vacant buildings or there is graffiti on them. Some are very artistic but of course it is vandalism since they are defacing someone else's property.

In the city near by to here, they have commissioned several different artists to paint murals on 12 or 13 buildings, so far. The artists use the entire side of the buildings as their canvas and their works of art are truly magnificent, these are not graffiti. Most depict life in the neighborhood from yesteryear. Some are scenes of local historical events and a couple are of a more modern flavor. The vandal type graffiti seems to be reserved for trains parked at a siding, or for the highway overpasses and the downtown bridges. I only wish the rich kid students in my little town would save their crap graffiti for when they go back home. -

Mostly vandalism. I live in the suburbs of a major city and it's pretty sad how graffiti defaces private and government property. Some graffiti can be murals and arguably art, but most are individuals writing their names and messages across private and Gov't property....from street signs, walls, and building.
