What does Trinitarian mean?
-
-
Nick BatchelorTrinity has been called "the central doctrine of the Christian religion." Many believe that the Father, Son, and holy spirit are three persons in one God but I see no such description in the Bible.
-
Sue ScarcellaThe word "Trinity" is not there, but the concept is. If 'only God can forgive sins" (Mark 2:7) but Jesus does, what does that indicate about him? Either he is blaspheming as the Pharisees say, or He is God. If God is Israel's shepherd, yet Jesus is the Good Shepherd, what does that say about Jesus? Time after time, the same terminology for God the Father is given to Jesus. Especially when Jesus says, of himself "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58), he is using the Greek ego eimi, the equivalent of Yahweh. You can see that he is pushing the point, because the pharisees pick up rocks to stone him for blasphemy. Similarly, in Revelation when John meets Jesus, Jesus says "I am the Alpha and the Omega" Rev 22:13. In the same book, God says " I am the Alpha and the Omega" (Rev 1:8). What is the only interpretation, given that John falls prostrate before Jesus in worship. The Greek word proskunein (worship) is only given to two persons in the Bible, God and Jesus.
-
Linda JoyJesus never claimed to have forgiven anyone's sins he said her sins were forgiven her because of the actions she took to make it so.
-
Nick BatchelorIf you read Matthew 9:6-8 what do we see according to verse 8. He can forgive because he is God? Or because he was given authority to do so?
-
pugwashjw65"God" is a title, not a direct identification. Jehovah is the almighty GOD...Jesus is also 'a' god, a spiritual being, and so too is Satan, (2 Corinthians 4:4) among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through. Football can 'be' a god to fans of the sport. So the use of the word should not be used as identification
-
Linda JoyI don't have to be God to forgive someone and we all existed as spirits before the earth was formed. Jesus even says be one with me as I am one with the father. That doesn't mean we are Jesus any more than He is claiming to be the father.
-
Earle BrownI see the JW's calling Jesus "a god." So, God used "a god" to create humanity...then say no gods were with him when he was creating the unicerse? Did he not know that men would see Jesus as their god? Lol! When the Watchtower was busy trying to discredit Jesus, they use Johannes Greber's demonic writing as part of their research tool that allowed them to arrive at the concept that Jesus is "a god." But years earlier, the Watchtower publicize two different publications identifying Johannes Greber as a demonic source. So, when demons think to discredit the Son of God they use the Watchtower or Johannes Greber.

TexasescimoHow is god used in the Bible? How was Moses god? How were the judges in Israel gods? How are the angels gods? Why is Jesus counted separate from the only True God? (John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 8:5, 6) For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many gods and many lords, 6?there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him.
-
Butterflies67Linda Joy@ do you believe in reincarnation? No one was a spirit before being a human. The only ones were the angels who left the heavens because they wanted to have relations with the women. Apart from Adam and Eve who were created directly by Jehovah God, we have all been born of man, ie our parents.

ChromemanThe word "Trinity" is not found anywhere in the Bible, although Various Trinitarian concepts exist. But generally the Trinity teaching is that in the Godhead there are three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost; yet, together they are but one God. The doctrine says that the three are coequal, almighty, and uncreated, having existed eternally in the Godhead, this concept is found in many religions old and new, but what does the Bible say about Jesus being equal to God? THE Bible teaching that God is one is called monotheism. And L. L. Paine, professor of ecclesiastical history, indicates that monotheism in its purest form does not allow for a Trinity: “The Old Testament is strictly monotheistic. God is a single personal being. The idea that a trinity is to be found there . . . is utterly without foundation.” So was there any change from monotheism after Jesus came to the earth? Paine answers: “On this point there is no break between the Old Testament and the New. The monotheistic tradition is continued. Jesus was a Jew, trained by Jewish parents in the Old Testament scriptures. His teaching was Jewish to the core; a new gospel indeed, but not a new theology. . . . And he accepted as his own belief the great text of Jewish monotheism: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one God". The Christian apostle Paul did not indicate any change in the nature of God either, even after Jesus came to the earth. He wrote: “but God is one.” KJV—Galatians 3:20; see also 1 Corinthians 8:4-6. What about Jesus himself? Jesus called God “the only true God.” (John 17:3) Never did he refer to God as a deity of plural persons. That is why nowhere in the Bible is anyone but GOD, Yahweh, Jehovah, called "Almighty". Otherwise, it voids the meaning of the word “almighty.” and neither Jesus or the holy spirit are referred to as "almighty" KJV says at Exodus 18:11 "Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them. So then what about Jesus, What does the Bible say? At Colossians 1:15 it says "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: if you look at the context of this chapter you would see that it is talking about being like Jesus who is the "image" of GOD not God himself. It also gives Jesus a beginning as the "firstborn of every creature" So for me the Bible doesn't teach a trinity.

Tarkz-Many Christian churches teach the idea of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being three deities in one. -The idea of the trinity actually had its origin in pagan roots, as will be explained below: -Babylon had triads of gods, and these divinities represented various forces of nature, and other gods exercised special influence in certain activities of mankind (Babylonian and Assyrian Religion pp. 14-40). The Nouveau Dictionnaire Universel p. 1467 states “The Platonic trinity, itself merely a rearrangement of older trinities dating back to earlier peoples, appears to be the rational philosophic trinity of attributes that gave birth to the three hypostases or divine persons taught by the Christian churches. This Greek philosopher’s [Plato’s] conception of the divine trinity can be found in all the ancient [pagan] religions. But if you look closely at the scriptures, you will find they do not support the idea of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being equal to each other, as will be discussed below: -The father’s superiority to the son -John 14:28-Jesus said: The Father is greater than I am. -Luke 22:42-Moreover, Jesus prayed to his Father, saying: Let, not my will, but yours take place. To whom was he praying if not to a Personage superior to him? -Acts 2:32-And it was God who resurrected Jesus from death, not Jesus himself. -1 Cor 11:3-Jesus did not become equal to his Father after being resurrected to heaven (this scripture was written by the apostle Paul long after Jesus ascended to Heaven). -The father had no beginning whereas the son did -Jehovah the Father had no beginning, Ps 90:2, speaks of him existing from time indefinite to time indefinite. However, Col 1:14-16 describes Jesus as the means by which all things in heaven and earth were created. Verse 15 and Rev 3:14 describe Jesus as the beginning or firstborn of creation. God’s voice was heard from Heaven while Jesus was on earth -After Jesus got baptized, the Father’s holy spirit came down on Jesus like the image of a dove, then the Father said in a voice “This is my Son, whom I have approved” (Matt 3:16,17). The Father’s voice came down from Heaven at that moment, and Jesus was of course on the earth at that time. -This happened a second time when Jesus was on earth. While he took his apostles Peter, James, and John up to a mountain (Matt 17:5), he was “transfigured” (verse 5). At this time, the father’s voice came out of the cloud saying “This is my son, the beloved, whom I have approved. Listen to him.” -So they both were in separate places at the same time in both instances. How could they be in two places at one time? No one can look upon God and live -Ex 33:20-God told Moses no one can look upon him and live. At John 1:18, Gospel writer John indicates no man at any time has seen God except the only-begotten god, referring to Jesus (John 3:16). By describing Jesus as the only man to have seen God, John must have been talking about Jesus being here on earth. When Jesus was on the earth, he later reaffirmed no one had seen God except he himself (John 6:46). -So this principle of not being able to look at Almighty God and keep alive was in effect during Jesus’ time on earth. Of course, people saw Jesus when he was on earth. If Jesus was the same as Almighty God, everyone who saw him would have died upon sight of him. -1 John 4:12-Long after Jesus’ death, the apostle John confirmed that no man ever beheld God. -This is the reason I do not believe the trinity or believe that Jesus was a trinitarian.

12-31-2016 Jesus was a Jew, and the trinitarian concept was unknown among Jews. The concept originated in the Babylon Mystery Religion. There are several books with that title, explaining the history. https://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=babylon%20mystery%20religion

Yes, it is true that the creed of Israel is "Jehovah our God is one Jehovah" (Deuteronomy 6:4) not 3 in 1. -
Sue Scarcella
The Hebrew word used in Deuteronomy 6: 4 is echad, meaning one in unity. In all other cases in the Old Testament, when one is used, it is yichad, the single one. -
Nick Batchelor
The same exact word we know is used of Abraham . He too is also referred to as ONE (Echad) at Isaiah 51:2. I am confident that you have a Hebrew Interlinear where you can also check out Ezekiel 33:24, "Abraham was only one (Echad) man, yet he possessed the land." (NIV) We can both agree that Abraham was a singular entity and did not necessarily have three personalities in his very being.

The earliest believers saw Jesus Christ as intrinsic to who God really is. It was later Christological developments that managed to acquire a very complicated picture of who Jesus really is. The terms co-equal, co-existent, and co-eternal would be lost on the early believers. They were schooled in the Scriptures and in the ancient sages. God is one! That's all they needed to know. So, would we define the early Christians as Trinitarians, or as Arianists, or by what we know today as the Oneness theology? The truth is that none of these beliefs would accord entirely with the theology of the early Christians. However, the early believers could be more closely defined as binitarians, that is, in their belief of a 'two-in-One' theology. Yet they never lost their emphasis on an absolute monothiestic faith. The earliest Christians were absolute monothiest. They believed that Jesus Christ originated in and came forth from the Father, that is, without becoming separate from Him in His spiritual being. Later trinitarian theology had a take off from this early Jewish-Christian belief, in that a third party was to be added to the equation, the Holy Spirit. It should be pointed out that the early Jewish believers always saw the Holy Spirit in connection with either the Father or the Son. In the new covenant the Holy Spirit was also seen as the Spirit of Christ, as the emanating power and presence of God. And so in early binitarian theology, the Holy Spirit is generally seen as being identical to the Son, that is, as the Spirit of the Son. The Holy Spirit was also seen as the fullness of God, and/or as the power and activity of God at work. This pretty much accords with how the Jewish peoples themselves viewed the Holy Spirit... interesting article at christianchallenge.org.

Gone, Jesus was a Jew and he knew he wasn't God. (John 14:1) He also knew the creed of Israel in Deuteronomy 6:4. Jehovah was one Jehovah. Nothing complicated about that. Thanks for your comment. -
Gone!
John Gill's commentary speaks it very clearly. You're correct, it's not complicated. Thank you for providing John 14:1 as a reference. ye believe in God, believe also in me; which words may be read and interpreted different ways: either thus, "ye believe in God, and ye believe in me"; and so are both propositions alike, and express God and Christ to be equally the object of their faith; and since therefore they had so good a foundation for their faith and confidence, they had no reason to be uneasy: or thus, "believe in God, and believe in me"; and so both are exhortations to exercise faith alike on them both, as being the best antidote they could make use of against heart troubles: or thus, "believe in God, and ye believe in me"; and so the former is an exhortation, the latter a proposition: and the sense is, put your trust in God, and you will also trust in me, for I am of the same nature and essence with him; I and my Father are one; so that if you believe in one, you must believe in the other: or thus, and so our translators render them, "ye believe in God, believe also in me"; and so the former is a proposition, or an assertion, and the latter is an exhortation grounded upon it: you have believed in God as faithful and true in all his promises, though yon have not seen him; believe in me also, though I am going from you, and shall be absent for a while; this you may be assured of, that whatever I have said shall be accomplished. The words considered either way are a full proof of the true deity of Christ, since he is represented as equally the object of faith with God the Father, and lay a foundation for solid peace and comfort in a view of afflictions and persecutions in the world. -

Jesus spoke of God as his father, he knew he was the son. In the gospel of John Jesus is referred to as the word, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was god he was with God in the beginning. And through him everything was created. Jesus is as much God as your heart is part of you, the Holy Spirit is as much God just as your breath is part of you, without these things you could not exist, hence they are all God. However, on earth the father works through Christ, because he is the son in flesh, again this is seen in the Gospel Of John. It also states 1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. -

Don't be deceived and go beyond what is written. (Colossians 2:8) Look out that no one takes you captive by means of the philosophy and empty deception according to human tradition, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ; (1 Corinthians 4:6) Now, brothers, these things I have applied to myself and Apollos for your good, that through us you may learn the rule: “Do not go beyond the things that are written,” so that you may not be puffed up with pride, favoring one against the other. (1 Corinthians 11:3) But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn, the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the Christ is God. (John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. (John 3:16) “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. -

Jesus was both human, and divine, because the fullness of the father dwelled in him, this is why God gives us his Holy Spirit, which is the Holy Spirit of God, hence who is at work in you, the Holy Spirit or you?

Jewels the reason it says the man and wife are one is due to the story of their creation, that Eve was taken from the side of Adam, so yes they were one, which is why Adam recognises her as flesh of my flesh and bone of my bones, and why the two become one in marriage. Ephesians 5:28-29 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: Hence, the Lord nourishes and cherishes the church (which is us, our bodies not a building), as he's own. 1 Cor 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit... Mt 28.19 -

It is true Jesus was a Jew - a fictitious Jew, also known as Rabbi Yeshua. Christianity and other monotheistic programs are used as tools to keep people from real spiritual knowledge, and the power in the hands of those at the top. Satan is not "evil" as depicted in the Bible, and He and the other Gods (as in the Greek Gods etc) love humanity. The Bible defames them and calls them "demons", and people are told to stay away from them at all costs. Learn the TRUTH: www.joyofsatan.org

3-9-2017 * New Catholic Encyclopedia, 1977 Edition, Vol. 13, p. 1021 -- The first use of the Latin word "trinitas" (trinity) with reference to God, is found in Tertulian's writings (about 213 A.D.) He was the first to use the term "persons" (plural) in a Trinitarian context. * Encyclopedia Americana, 1957 Edition, Vol. 27, p. 69 -- The word "Trinity" is not in Scripture. The term "persons" (plural) is not applied in Scripture to the Trinity. * World Book Encyclopedia, 1984 Edition, Vol. T, p. 363 -- Belief in Father, Son and Holy Ghost was first defined by the earliest general council of churches. This was the First Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. * New International Encyclopedia, Vol. 22 p. 476 -- The Catholic faith is this; We worship one God in Trinity, but there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son and another of the Holy Ghost. The Glory equal -- the Majesty co-eternal. The doctrine is not found in its fully developed form in the Scriptures. Modern theology does not seek to find it in the Old Testament. At the time of the Reformation the Protestant Church took over the doctrine of the Trinity without serious examination. * Life Magazine, October 30, 1950, Vol. 29, No. 18, p. 51 -- The Catholics made this statement concerning their doctrine of the Trinity, to defend the dogma of the assumption of Mary, in an article written by Graham Greene: "Our opponents sometimes claim that no belief should be held dogmatically which is not explicitly stated in Scripture ... But the PROTESTANT CHURCHES have themselves accepted such dogmas as THE TRINITY, for which there is NO SUCH PRECISE AUTHORITY In the Gospels."

Yep! Jesus wasn't Trinitarian.

This is a question that many opinions vary on. The Bible though no matter what version is clear as to whether Jesus was a Trinitarian. If you open you Bible you will see that Jesus made it clear on numerous occasions that he was not equal in any way to his Father, God. For one thing, the Bible does not mention the word “Trinity.” For another, Jesus never claimed to be equal to God. Instead, Jesus worshipped God. (Luke 22:41-44) A third line of evidence concerns Jesus’ relationship with his followers. Even after he was raised from the dead to the spirit realm, Jesus called his followers “my brothers.” (Matthew 28:10) Were they brothers of Almighty God? Of course not! But through their faith in Christ—God’s preeminent Son—they too became sons of the one Father. What the Bible says: “My Father is greater than I [Jesus].”—John 14:28.* “I [Jesus] ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and your God.”—John 20:17. “To us there is but one God, the Father.”—1 Corinthians 8:6. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”—1 Peter 1:3. “These things saith the Amen [Jesus], . . . the beginning of the creation of God.”—Revelation 3:14 If you would like to learn more about Jesus and the role he plays in God's Kingdom please visit www.jw.org

-

NO. If you can get any ' trinitarian' to explain the term, I will be surprised... Basically, it is supposed to mean three individuals, all equal, being the ONE individual... One supposedly being the holy spirit. But the holy spirit is NOT a person/individual...it is Jehovah's power...a force. The idea is a carryover from paganism, where 'gods' are supposed to ' know it all' and are depicted in statuary as having three faces, so they can 'see; everything. It was introduced into the Catholic church via Constantine, to get the pagans to join the church to make up the numbers...and because it suits Satan, it has remained...and even gone on to Protestant religions... J.W's have remained free of this false teaching..

To claim there are 3 gods is absurd. The Trinity known as 3 in 1 is simply explained by what God did in Heaven, on Earth and by His Resurrection. The Father is the truth. (Isaiah 65:16) Jesus is the truth. (John 14:6) The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. (John 15:26) There can only be one Truth that leads to one God.

No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 15:26) When the helper comes that I will send you from the Father, the spirit of the truth, which comes from the Father, that one will bear witness about me; (2 John 1, 2) The older man to the chosen lady and to her children, whom I truly love, and not only I but also all those who have come to know the truth, 2?because of the truth that remains in us and will be with us forever. John 18:37 (KJV) Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. Pretty simple. (John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 8:5, 6) For even though there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6?there is actually to us one God, the Father, from whom all things are and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and we through him. (Psalm 83:18) May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth. -

Texasescimo, John 17:3 doesn't change the fact how the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit share the title of the truth. Not to mention Jesus is also the true God in the Godhead. 1 John 5:20 "And we are in Him that is true, even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and Eternal Life." -
Texasescimo
Who Is “the True God and Life Everlasting”? JEHOVAH, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, is the true God. He is the Creator, the one giving eternal life to those who love him. That is how many who read and believe the Bible would answer the question posed in the above title. Indeed, Jesus himself said: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.”—John 17:3. Yet, many churchgoers give the expression a different meaning. The words in the title come from 1 John 5:20, which says, in part: “We are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.” Believers in the Trinity doctrine hold that the demonstrative pronoun “this” (hou?tos) refers to its immediate antecedent, Jesus Christ. They assert that Jesus is “the true God and life everlasting.” This interpretation, however, is in conflict with the rest of the Scriptures. And many authoritative scholars do not accept this Trinitarian view. Cambridge University scholar B. F. Westcott wrote: “The most natural reference [of the pronoun hou?tos] is to the subject not locally nearest but dominant in the mind of the apostle.” Thus, the apostle John had in mind Jesus’ Father. German theologian Erich Haupt wrote: “It has to be determined whether the [hou?tos] of the next proposition refers to the locally and immediately preceding subject . . . or to the more distant antecedent God. . . . A testimony to the one true God seems more in harmony with the final warning against idols than a demonstration of the divinity of Christ.” Even A Grammatical Analysis of the Greek New Testament, published by Rome’s Pontifical Biblical Institute, states: “[Hou?tos]: as a climax to [verses] 18-20 the ref[erence] is almost certainly to God the real, the true, [in] opp[osition to] paganism (v. 21).” Often hou?tos, generally translated “this” or “this one,” does not refer to the immediately preceding subject of a phrase. Other scriptures illustrate the point. At 2 John 7, the same apostle and penman of the first letter wrote: “Many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This [hou?tos?] is the deceiver and the antichrist.” Here the pronoun cannot refer to the closest antecedent—Jesus. Obviously, “this” refers to those who denied Jesus. They collectively are “the deceiver and the antichrist.” -

In his Gospel, the apostle John wrote: “Andrew the brother of Simon Peter was one of the two that heard what John said and followed Jesus. First this one [hou?tos] found his own brother, Simon.” (John 1:40, 41) It is evident that “this one” refers, not to the last person mentioned, but to Andrew. At 1 John 2:22, the apostle uses the same pronoun in a similar way. Luke makes similar use of the pronoun, as seen at Acts 4:10, 11: “In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you impaled but whom God raised up from the dead, by this one does this man stand here sound in front of you. This [hou?tos?] is ‘the stone that was treated by you builders as of no account that has become the head of the corner.’” The pronoun “this” clearly does not refer to the man who was healed, though he is the one mentioned just before hou?tos. Certainly, “this” in verse 11 refers to Jesus Christ the Nazarene, who is the “cornerstone” on which the Christian congregation is founded.—Ephesians 2:20; 1 Peter 2:4-8. Acts 7:18, 19 also illustrates the point: “There rose a different king over Egypt, who did not know of Joseph. This one [hou?tos] used statecraft against our race.” “This one” who oppressed the Jews was, not Joseph, but Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Such passages confirm the observation made by Greek scholar Daniel Wallace, who says that for Greek demonstratives, “what might be the nearest antecedent contextually might not be the nearest antecedent in the author’s mind.” -

The True One” As the apostle John wrote, “the true One” is Jehovah, the Father of Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, the Creator. The apostle Paul acknowledged: “There is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are.” (1 Corinthians 8:6; Isaiah 42:8) Another reason that Jehovah is “the true one” referred to at 1 John 5:20 is that he is the Source of truth. The psalmist called Jehovah “the God of truth” because He is faithful in all He does and cannot lie. (Psalm 31:5; Exodus 34:6; Titus 1:2) Referring to his heavenly Father, the Son said: “Your word is truth.” And regarding his own teaching, Jesus stated: “What I teach is not mine, but belongs to him that sent me.”—John 7:16; 17:17. Jehovah is also “life everlasting.” He is the Source of life, the One giving it as an undeserved gift through Christ. (Psalm 36:9; Romans 6:23) Significantly, the apostle Paul said that God is “the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.” (Hebrews 11:6) God rewarded his Son by raising him from the dead, and the Father will give the reward of everlasting life to those who serve Him with all their heart.—Acts 26:23; 2 Corinthians 1:9. Hence, what conclusion should we come to? That Jehovah, and no one else, is “the true God and life everlasting.” He alone is worthy to receive exclusive worship from those whom he created.—Revelation 4:11. -

Quote: "Who Is “the True God and Life Everlasting”?" Can't no one but God give Eternal Life. Jesus gives life to whom He pleases, simply because He is God. John 5:21 "For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom He will." -

Quote: "(1 Corinthians 8:6; Isaiah 42:8) Another reason that Jehovah is “the true one” referred to at 1 John 5:20 is that he is the Source of truth." Not exactly, there can only be one source of truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life in John 14:6, while the Holy Spirit also shares the title of the truth. Since you bring up a passage from Isaiah 42:8, it states that the Father does not share His glory with any other. Yet, Jesus shares His glory by doing what the Father does. John 5:19 "So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise." -

If you read 1 John 5:20 in context, it is telling you Christians are in Him (Jesus) who is true. In 2 Corinthians 13:5, Paul asks the Corinthian believers a question: "Or do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you?" -

Context. The one who is true and His Son are mentioned. (1 John 5:18-20) We know that everyone who has been born from God does not practice sin, but the one born from God watches him, and the wicked one cannot take hold of him. 19?We know that we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. 20?But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us insight so that we may gain the knowledge of the one who is true. And we are in union with the one who is true, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting. -

Do you read 1 John 2:22 as: {the Christ? This is the antichrist} (1 John 2:22) Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. -

This is the antichrist}" 1 John 2:22 does not go against my comments, since we already know how the Father and the Son work together in Scripture. No. Jesus never claimed equality with his father, Jehovah... And the ' holy spirit' id Jehovah's power, a force and not a person/. Some scripture texts can be mis-leading, by saying the holy spirit is sent to help us...but the same can be said that the authorities send us electricity to help us...We cannot communicate direct with electrical power...but it helps us get things done.

Yes, not talking about Himself or Themself but rather the one whom Jesus referred to as the only true God. Glorify your son so that your son may glorify you, 2 just as you have given him authority over all flesh, so that he may give everlasting life to all those whom you have given to him. 3 This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

John 1:1 states: ?In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.? (King James Version) Later in the same chapter, the apostle John clearly shows that ?the Word? is Jesus. (John 1:14) Since the Word is called God, however, some conclude that the Son and the Father must be part of the same God. John further writes in chapter 1, verse 18: ?No man has seen [Almighty] God at any time.? However, humans have seen Jesus, the Son, for John says: ?The Word [Jesus] was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory.? (John 1:14, KJ) How, then, could the Son be part of Almighty God? John also states that the Word was ?with God.? But how can an individual be with someone and at the same time be that person? Moreover, as recorded at John 17:3, Jesus makes a clear distinction between himself and his heavenly Father. He calls his Father ?the only true God.? And toward the end of his Gospel, John sums up matters by saying: ?These have been written down so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.? (John 20:31) Notice that Jesus is called, not God, but the Son of God. This additional information provided in the Gospel of John shows how John 1:1 should be understood. Jesus, the Word, is ?a god? in the sense that he has a high position but is not the same as Almighty God.

The Bible teaches that Jehovah God is the Creator and that he created Jesus before all other things. (Colossians 1:15, 16) Jesus is not Almighty God. He never claimed that he was equal to God. In fact, he said: “The Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28; 1 Corinthians 15:28) But some religions teach the Trinity, that God is three persons in one: the Father, the Son, and the holy spirit. The word “Trinity” is not in the Bible. This is a false teaching. The holy spirit is God’s active force, his invisible power in action that he uses to do his will. It is not a person. For example, early Christians “became filled with holy spirit,” and Jehovah said: “I will pour out some of my spirit on every sort of flesh.”—Acts 2:1-4,

No, Jesus knows that the Father is Greater than Him and that the Father is the only True God. Like trinitarians, the Pharisees thought Jesus was claiming to be God. Jesus defended Himself against that charge. (John 10:30-36) I and the Father are one. 31?Once again the Jews picked up stones to stone him. 32?Jesus replied to them: I displayed to you many fine works from the Father. For which of those works are you stoning me? 33?The Jews answered him: We are stoning you, not for a fine work, but for blasphemy; for you, although being a man, make yourself a god. 34?Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your Law, I said: You are gods? 35?If he called gods those against whom the word of God came and yet the scripture cannot be nullified 36?do you say to me whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, You blaspheme, because I said, I am Gods Son?

No, think of this compelling thought: At Mark 13:32, Jesus Christ said: “But of that day or that hour [of God’s coming execution of judgment] no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” But if the Father and the Son are coequal, how could the Son be ignorant of things the Father knows? ‘Jesus had two natures,’ some will answer. ‘Here he is speaking as a man.’ And, yet, even if that were so, what about the “Holy Ghost”? If it is the third person of the Trinity, why does it not know? A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And the “Holy Ghost” is part of the Trinitarian chain. Similarly, on an earlier occasion Jesus had said: “No one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son.” (Luke 10:22) Once again, what about the “Holy Ghost”? If it is a conscious part of the “Godhead,” coequal with the Father and the Son, why does it not know? More than 20 years after Jesus died and ascended to heaven, the apostle Paul wrote: “‘For who has known the mind of the Lord [the Father] so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16) How is it possible to have “the mind of Christ” and yet not know “the mind of the Lord”—if the Father and the Son are coequal? At Proverbs 8:22-24 we read: “The LORD created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old. Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth.” The early Christians clearly understood that this description applied to Christ. As Trinitarian scholar Edmund J. Fortman writes: “Paul applied it [Proverbs 8:22-31] to the Son of God. The Apologists used it to prove to Gentile and Jew the pre-existence of the Word and His role in creation.” (Compare Colossians 1:15-17; Revelation 3:14.) But if Jesus had a finite beginning, was “created,” “set up,” “brought forth,” though long before his earthly birth, how could he be coequal with the Father in eternity? Additionally, only a creature (hence, one who had a beginning) could say: “I live because of the Father.”—John 6:57. Jesus repeatedly referred to the Father as “my God”—even after his return to heavenly glory. (Matthew 27:46; John 20:17; Revelation 3:2, 12) Only an inferior, a worshiper, can refer to another as “my God.” But why is it that not once do we find the Father addressing the Son as “my God”? And why is it that we never see the Father or the Son addressing the “Holy Ghost” as “my God”? Thought-provoking questions, would you not agree? No. The Bible states that when Jesus was baptized in the Jordan river (on earth) The Father spoke from Heaven (clearly NOT on earth!) and The Holy Ghost descended in the form of a dove. Three separate entities doing three separate jobs of The Godhead. Which work together as one and have one purpose.

the pagan trinity doctrine was re introduced in the 4th century..so Jesus didn't follow it or any other multi gods.. he believed in one true god, his father. Trinity belief is against Gods first commandment.. have no other gods before me'. having jesus as god is breaking this commandment

To call Jesus trinitarian is to call humans humans. I and the Father are one. He who has seen me has seen the father. The trinity is just a word to describe who God is. he is the father, son and Holy spirit. Nowhere in the Bible does Jesus ever equate himself with God. He always gave the glory to Jehovah, as his God and Father. The Holy Scriptures tell us the personal name of the Father—Jehovah. They inform us that the Son is Jesus Christ. But nowhere in the Scriptures is a personal name applied to the holy spirit. At 1 Cor. 8:5, 6, we read “Although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords’—yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.” This presents the Father as the “one God” of Christians and as being in a class distinct from Jesus Christ.

He said Baptize in the names [ not nameS !!] of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit so by definition He is Trinitarian

Something that makes God very real to Jehovah’s Witnesses is their knowledge and regular use of his personal name, Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18) When a member of one of Christendom’s churches reads in his Bible the anonymous expression “the name of the Lord,” it means little or nothing to him. Similarly, when he prays “hallowed be thy name,” the chances are that he does not know what name he is praying about. Jehovah’s Witnesses know their God, they know his name and, like the psalmist and Jesus himself, they love their heavenly Father’s name. The dogma of the Trinity is not found in the Bible, nor is it in harmony with what the Bible teaches
