ANd add time if there is elevation gain. That could swing the times WAY up. It once took us 14 hours to walk 6 miles. And we felt like we were going to die at that!

Depends on the person. I can run a mile in a little over 10 minutes...so I would assume it would be double time walking.
-
It would take me about seven hours because I'd stop to eat something and take a drink once in a while.
-
It would take me 9-10 hours.

Depends on how fast they walk. Not everyone walks the same speed. If someone is walking for exercise if they do a mile in 15 to 20 minutes they are doing very well. The recreational walkers are doing half marathons in about 18 minute mile pace. Olympic race walkers do 7:30 minute miles. So average person might walk 28 miles in between 4 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours. A race walker probably in a little over 2 hours.

On a flat, fairly level surface with minimal interruptions walking a fairly brisk rate I walk pretty consistently at 3 miles an hour. That would be about 6 hours and possibly a little more for breaks. That also assumes weather is not exremely hot or cold.

One of my past boyfriends walked 18 mils in about 4.5 hours. He walked it every day for a while. I am a woman, so I would be slower.
