Invest it and depending on the return I get on the investment, I might quit my job.
-
Spend $10K on whatever frivolous thing I've been obsessing about. All the rest goes into an interest bearing account for minimum 6 mos. while I figure out all my options.
-
Pay off all my debts (except my Mortgage). Then help my family. A million dollars is not what is used to be.
-
Smile.
-
You mean all of a sudden? From zero bucks to a million bucks? This is a very indelicate answer, but I've thought about it before (say, we win the Lotto)..I'd probably get "the runs" and spend some time in the bathroom...that is, if I didn't faint first. (I've never fainted, it just seems to me to be an appropriate response to something so big!)
-

-
If I had a cool million in my hands right now, I know exactly what I would do. I would buy my wife's grandma's house for my father in law. She passed away recently, and her house is going up for sale. It is the family house, and happens to be right next to his current home! Although it was promised to him, his 6 siblings talked the grandma into a will change and he got screwed. That would set me in very well for life with the in laws!
-
We all have our personal priorities. I would pay off my mortgage, rent my house and move to South America. The rent from my house, interest from the balance plus my social security would allow me and my wife to live comfortably (not extravagantly).
-
Hire a lawyer.
-
Give it to Gtravels' stepdad to invest for me. He is the local financial guru.
-
I do and am planning a backpacking trip (with some flights included)to various worldwide destinations. Call it a mid life crises. 44, divorced, no kids...spend a year and see where life takes me. Hoping to do it for about 100k. Just in the planning stages right now.
-
The first thing I'd do is put 200,000 into a locked account for my sister for University (so she can get through undergrad and then grad schools), then I'll pay off my student loans, keep for myself 100,000, and give the rest to my parents. In that order.

Buy a small house for 100-120k then invest the rest in stocks, funds, and options.

First pay off me and all my homies and closest fam's debts (thankfully none of us is too severely in a hole) Then put the rest in a nifty investment (would have to take some tips from some of my wealthier relatives) after setting a little aside for my little Africa Cheetah Conservation trip
-
Throw it in the bank with the highest interest rate, then wait a few years, get a job where I work for the enjoyment, not the cash, and then live of that and the interest. Also, week by week, set aside some to put in with the principle, and thereby increasing the interest. Doesn't sound like much, but with a 5% interest rate, that's about 50K a year.
-
pay for my college. and then set some aside for my sisters college. then i would get a car that isnt a piece of crap like i have now haha. then i would give my parents some for raising me and whatnot (i suppose lol). as for the rest, i would put it in the bank. that is what i would actually do with it. what i would LIKE to do with it is buy a red saleen s7! or a really sweet house! : )

-
In this fanasty world lol, I would move to Seattle with my girlfriend, get married, play golf for fun and be a photographer on the side. I would also use that money to pay for her tuition for whatever she wanted to do and id be extremely happy.
-
This may sound weird, especially since I grew up in poverty, but I don't think I would want a million dollars. I don't know why. Probably just because I am afraid of too much money. I'm happy the way things are. Besides, what would life be without struggles? And I know I would never make a million dollars in my lifetime because I would have no need for it Any excess that me or my baby/family wouldn't need, I'd just give it away.
-
Buy a new car/vehicle. I have 4 kids but don't have a vehicle that fits all of us in it, so we always have to make 2 trips, which all in all means 4 trips... it really sucks... after that, who knows!

I have a list: 1.) Pay my debts. 2.) Pay my folks house off. 3.) Put 100K in some sort of high interest savings account for my kids college funds. 4.) Fix up my house.

After paying off debts and all of that. I would probably give 500,000 away to charity, because i dont need that much money. Id save a bunch, and any left overs i would fuel my interests which are chess and pianos and programming.
