Yes. I have done volunteer work with my church. I've done a lot of fun raising type of activities like working at a booth for our church fair. I also made food baskets and delivered them to needy families.

yes all the time. I use to paint for our local swimming pool, clean up on rubbish days and often i work with the elderly. i also worked for open family youth services with troubled and drug addicted kids

Yes--I've served food at a soup kitchen, cleaned up a town Vietnam memorial park, put up some siding for a Habitat for Humanity house project, and volunteered as a Big Brother. Oh, and I also helped sign in Red Cross volunteers for blood donations.

I volunteer at Chris Evert Children's Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. I mostly play with the kids and do crafts.

I don't want to sound like a jerk here but in the state of Florida you have to do 40 hours a month of community service in order to get about $165.00 loaded onto your Electronic Benefit Transfer (food stamp) card. I used to "volunteer" at a food pantry to get these benefits when I was down on my luck a few years ago.

I used to volunteer at planned parenthood i was there once a week teaching safe sex classes and such.

I work as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused children... kids who have been taken into "the system". The purpose is to provide a stable friend, advocate, and mentor for the child while they are bounced around inside the system. A typical child may change homes and schools several times a year, and it becomes very stressful for them. The CASA spends time with the child on a regular basis, and makes recommendations to the court about the child's care. http://www.nationalcasa.org I also volunteer at my Zen center in various ways. I've done other things in the past, but this is it for now.

I used to watch little kids after school a few years ago, but the people who ran the thing didn't want me doing it anymore because I was too old (?). So, they did all this crazy stuff to me that I don't really want to talk about right now, and I wasn't allowed to do it anymore. Now, I'm planning to do volunteer work at Coastal Hospice.

yes, i go to a local primary school on a tuesday afternoon to help with reading. I work with kids who struggle with reading because they dont get help at home, or are a bot behind some of the others

yup, i was a part of food not bombs, i also worked in a shelter for abused women and children, and in a rape crisis line, as well as students for justice when i was in university. in that organization i did tons of 'volunteer' work. as well as numerous other things such as shows i helped organize and play in for numerous causes (ranging from landmine awareness to endangered animals). honestly though, i don't see it as volunteer work i see it as my duty to give back and do whatever is in my power to help others. if there were more solidarity, this world wouldn't be nearly as f*cked as it is now.

Lunch room Bulletin Boards Filing Home room mother Banquet organizer Fund raisers Art teacher (6th & 7th grade) No funding for the program Also I've worked the Gatesway Balloon Fest and packed boxes of food for Angel Food Ministries.

Yes I have worked at a community recreaction center in the summer. There was a summer program that allowed low income families to drop their children off when they had to work and they could play games such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, dodgeball, or any other games they could come up with. They provided free lunches for the children and I aided with the lunch portion of the program. I was fun to talk to they kids and get a feel for what they come from and their goals. However, there were some little jerks too!!!

I have done some in the past. I worked for a parental crisis line before I had children what an eye opening experience I had, I have delivered library books to the sick and elderly and I have worked in a school library as a childrens librarian.

Yes, I used to help out in a drug centre in Central London. I do fund raising for Diabetes and Cancer Research and I have been a volunteer for Childline for 3 years.

I've helped pick up trash around my local community, paint the childrens bus stops around our area and plant trees in the local community as well. It feels very rewarding to give back... :-)

We had a subject in school called "Community Service" where we taught children from a nearby public elementary school. That's the closest I've come to volunteer work. As a side note, I've volunteered to annoy my family at least once a day, if that counts for anything...

Yes at the SPCA of the Florida Keys for a while. those poor animals are ferral and abused. i work with the dogs and cats so they can be adoptable. and let them know there are people who are gentle and caring.

Last year i got to spend 6 months teaching a small kid how to read, he was in year 4 and had a reading age of a year 1, after 6 months his reading age jumped up by three years. I was so proud of his achievements. This year i spend an hour on a saturday taking medicines to people too old and frail to get the medicine for themselves. Its lovely getting to see the people each week, they all seem to enjoy getting their new medicine. :)

I worked at a food pantry for approx. 5 years / I was the one they called when a shipment came in of either govt. food or donated food. I stocked the shelves / some other folks did not want to do this chore because it took a while and I had all the paperwork to do on govt. stuff. too. We had a manager above me but he didnt like me because I have a ponytail. (can goods are closed) No hygene problem. But eventualy he told me to leave. I felt sorry for some of the women who couldnt lift cases but my hands were tied. He was an idiot & still is. Im thinking of putting in a letter to our hospital for a volunteer.

Yes. For a year and a half, I put UPCs on stuffed toys in a warehouse, for a small charity that gave toys and school supplies to underprivileged children. I also did office work for an organization that does a bunch of stuff for lower income families.

I donate and attend charity walks and donate blood every chance I get. Next year, I'm going for a personal best and do at least 50 charity walks. I'm overweight, so charity runs are out of the question and I've only just recently started to bike again. I give alot all the time, I just wish I could help out my parents. They give alot too. Adopted 4 kids on top of having 2 of their own, built an addition to the house just for my Grandmother when her other 8 kids wouldn't lift a finger or a wallet to help. And helped me when I was in serious trouble with my finances when I had some bad depression and fell behind on some bills. They are about the best volunteers I know.

After never seeing a soccer game, my wife signs me up to be a referee. It was a volunteer league. There were no fund raisers and the only cost was for the uniform. If you signed up your child, you needed to volunteer. Boy, was I confused. Then, a year later I was the head ref.

I've done volunteer work at a local zoo and I also did volunteer work for theuraputic horsebacking for children and adults with disabilities. And soon, my dog will be taking classes to be trained as a therapy dog so we can give comfort at hospitals and nursing homes.

Yes ... I volunteer every Thursday at a food bank ... I am the one that goes with the bishop (our truck driver) to Montreal's donated food inspection and distribution center and I load the entire truck with ten pallets of food ... then I unload it once we have returned to our food bank ... ... a group of girls and old ladies then sorts and divides it all into single bags, couples bags, and large family boxes and then they do the actual distribution ...

I worked for a couple who owned 7 McDonald's Restaurants and were instrumental in getting the Loma Linda, California Ronald McDonald House built. There were many fundraisers and I got my sister and brother-in-law involved in some of them. It is a great cause and a wonderful charity.

Yeah, I crochet hats for the babies at Children's hospital, hats and scarves for the homeless and I crocheted a huge blanket family size (97"x97") and gave it to a family whose home burned down and smaller stuff for needy neighbors. I work in the library at Church, help clean the Church sometimes, do indexing at the family history center. Used to teach Sunday school and I had cub scouts for a while. It feels good. I couldn't do the demise pouches though just taking about it made me cry!
