It's pretty good, but don't buy one until the 2nd or 3rd generation of the technology. I saw the 1st generation at a store and motion blur is evident. The LEDs aren't turning completely on and off fast enough, and it's really noticeable. I've read the later generations will fix this.

First, you should know that the so-called LED tvs, are not really LED tvs. They are LCD tvs, with white-light LEDs for a backlight. The LEDs replace the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL for short) in the tv, and should last a lot longer, use less power, and have the potential to give a much higher contrast ratio (because portions of the backlight can be selectively turned on and off, unlike CCFLs). Other than that, they are the same as LCD TVs and have most of the same advantages and shortcomings. LCD TVs, even with CCFLs, are great, and I have no qualms recommending one, so long as you buy a good brand.
