I've become much more distant to a relative who has an alcohol problem. I did so much for him that it was starting to get to me emotionally. I finally realized he has to help himself before anyone else can help him.

A week or so ago when I ended my employment with a particular person. It was complete relief!

I don't remember. I rarely cut ties. Rather, I'm always hoping that old friends will come back into my life.

When a friend wanted to borrow money to hide debt from a new partner. I had to say no, she lives a far more lavish lifestyle than me and I wouldnt have seen that money again. She has no respect for money and would sell her own mother at the right price. +5

At the beginning of the month when I discovered that a woman I was doing some work for was not going to pay me the percentage commission we had originally agreed on -- quite a considerable amount. I cut our ties immediately. I think it is bad luck for both you and the person exploiting you to stay in such a relationship. I also don't want to be associated with someone who is ruled by such obvious greed.

I don't think anyone will ever be able to cut all their ties and tie their loose ends. Life, is one big ball of tangled yarn. So thick, you can't even cut it. You have to basically just... "Roll with it".. everyday, as it unravels before you.

Fortunately I never let it get to that point Icy. I know when things are not going well and I move out of those situations before "binding" has a chance to take place! :)

A couple of months ago. My one friend was constantly being negative and did not listen when I spoke. Only his opinion mattered. He always wanted me to do things with him that I did not enjoy. Even when I told him I do not enjoy doing those things he would still push. He was a kind, gentle, nice man, but all that negativity was bringing me down. I still miss him.
