According to the side of the box, the basic package that is sold in the in-home demonstrations is $1995. I used to sell these things door to door. We would start out at $1999. We would often sell them for as low as $999 (and sometimes even lower).

Don't pay more than $1,000. They always indicate the price is around 2,000 and that they are giving you a great deal, sacrificing to give it to you for say $1,200 - $1,300 however the truth is when pushed they often go to around $1,000. We just had a saleslady here this week! Don't believe the lie that the lifetime - rebuild plan is FREE (like we did) ask for the warranty papers before purchasing and look over carefully. Currently the rebuild charge is $175 plus shipping.

I recently has a demonstration at my house on Nov 2, 2008 and the sales person wanted $ 2295 for the Kirby Sentria, with the attachments, shampoo system. As a sales scheme, he offered to take the Kirby vacuum box to recycle it. I later found out from my friend who kept her box that the suggested retail price were as follows: Kirby Sentria and attachments $ 1,349.50 Carpet Shampoo System $ 179.50 Zippbrush $ 59.50 Floor care system $ 109.50 Turbo Accessory system $ 94.50 I only bought the shampoo system and the vacuum and was charged $ 2295. I am in dispute now the sales office called San Jose Unlimited at 780 Montague Expressway, # 704, San Jose, CA 95131. 408-433-9626. As of today 12/4/08 I am having a difficult time reaching and faxing documents over.

sjdebbie.....Recently, I purchased a Kirby vacuum and shampoo system. From the information your friend provided I paid way too much. Now I am disputing the price with a distributor in WA. Did you get from your friend a pic of the box showing the retail price of the vacuum cleaner? I looking for physical proof. At this point I am trying to get the distributor to give me an itemized receipt for my home insurance. I will let you know what success I have, if you are interested. Also, you may want to check into CA laws. The distributor may have broken a law on false advertising. I want the cleaner and don't mind it being pricey. I just want to pay a fair price.

The Kirby Sentria Vacuum and Shampooer are priced on the box and are aproximately 1600 plus tax. The salesman or Woman only makes commission above that. Sure you can get it cheaper than they probably sold it to you for but if you respected them and they did a good job showing you the machine dont you think they deserve a paycheck ? Look, you can get your car or house cheaper somewhere too. sales is about money. A car is overpriced so they can cut some off and still make a paycheck. The same with Kirby. I sell them and have been for over a year and i am fair and upfront with my customers. They all know i am on comission. Sometimes if i feel they really want and need it but cant afford it i will take a loss and help them out. But the price is the price. People need to get their facts straight before they assume to have inside knowledge of something. I am a manager in Knoxville Tn and will gladly answer anyones concerns....

They can be bought right now for around $900 refurbished. Amazon has a new one for $1480.
