It's not in Egypt, a predominantly Muslim country. Recently there was a mass slaughter of pigs there because of a false swine flu scare.

No, but publicly eating it might make you as popular as a bacon sandwich at a Jewish wedding.....

No it isn't and many more liberal muslims do eat pork. However, social pressure for muslims not to eat it is tremendous, just as for muslims to participate in Ramadan. The social pressure is almost as bad as any punishment meted out in court!

not at all because even the majority of the people in those countries are Muslims, they also have Christians (and other beliefs) citizens.
