Symbolic, a deterrent to others.
-
It's unfortunate that he's in his 70s. Because as miserable as he's going to be inside, he's not going to be miserable long enough.
-
Good start. Who's next?
-
he deserves it. what he did was very cruel. he stole peoples' money and some of those people were very old and they had to go back to work. very sad.
-
He got the maximum allowed. It was the total maximum for each offense that he confessed to. The sentence makes sense except in one way: He came to the authorities himself. Getting the maximum will make others afraid to confess crimes as no adjustment was made by the Judge for his confession. - It's true, that to my understanding, Madoff did not cooperate, in the sense that has implicated no one else (impossible, he could not have pulled this off himself.)
-
Lucky man he is going to live over 200 years.
-
The first white collar criminal that got more that the proverbial 'slap on the wrist'. They will probably let him out before he dies so he won't die in prison.
-
Well deserved
-
Well, he now has alot of time to swindle the other prisoners out of their cigs and bars of soap.
-
you kinda figured he was going to get that.. or life in his case. He deserved it but what would really would be nice is getting 150 million out of him instead..
-
Madoff is about to pay the price for giving zilch away. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = But still he might expect (in some movie-worthy plot), a dramatic rescue financed by the billions he got.
-
I'm fine with it. However, I'm more concerned about how much he has in the way of assets that they can use to reimburse his victims.
-
He won't live long enough. I think he should do hard time, hard labor and not be furloughed into one of those white collar country clubs. No punishment could settle the score for even one of the people he betrayed...multiply that by the hundreds or thousands..throw in the charities that have been decimated. I'm thinking in a case like this, Reincarnation would be the perfect punishment..at a minimum it would allow the sentence of 150 years to be completed. He would be incarcerated through time and multiple lives. Happy Tuesday Babe! :) ((hugs))
-
I believe there were more involved! And i wonder what will happen to him in jail!
-
Madoff made off with over 150 billion dollars of other people's money so he's serving a year for every billion dollars of the money that he ripped off from thousands of unsuspecting folks.
-
So what should Congress get for implementing the Social Security Ponzi scheme?
-
He deserves it and I'm glad I didn't invest through him.
-
People got their pound of flesh but I'm betting they won't do so well seeing their tons of cash ever. +5
-
They should have taken all his property as well as his freedom.
-
He's going to be 221 years old when he gets out.
-
I'd rather have seen him and his family left homeless. His wife is still left with over a $2 million and he gets a place to sleep and 3 meals a day while all the people and charities that he screwed are left to fight for a small percentage of what they lost.
-
It's just a pity they cant keep him alive to experience 150yrs of arse raping!
-
Not enough, He ruined thousands of peoples lives. And Why isn't his wife in there with him? That putz couldn't make a million dollars in her lifetime why does she get to keep 2.7 million.
-
Who gets the $150 million he's stashed away?
-
Well, that should even cover some of the upcoming MilleniumLOL! Let's hope he makes it to the Millenium, or he'll be in debt! ... and I don't know how you pay in years after you're resurrected to Immortality!!??
-
My thoughts are the madoff desererved his sentence i hope he rots in jail for all the money that he stole from his clients. what he did was immorally and ethically wrong He deserves to be in jail for the rest of his life
