Very limited information given - you might be. +5

Hell no but its your choice to have one again if you want but if i was you i wouldnt but they are handy!
-
Yeah, you are crazy. Unless you have enough cash on your for emergencies at all times, then you should probably have a credit card. You just need to learn from your mistakes and don't charge more than you can pay off in a month. Credit card interest is something like 22%, it's obscene and completely not necessary if you can control your spending.
-
I have forgotten the latin phrase but it means "it does not follow", you may or may not be crazy. The credit card industry is in turmoil and at our expense. Keep a couple of feeless cards for emergency, but watch your usage.
-
No. You learn from your mistakes. (I note its taking "another year" to pay off your debts. Hopefully it is on a no interest card. When you are done, take a scissors and cut the card into bits.
-
Being out of debt is smart. Staying out of debt is even smarter.
-
Good for you that you're paying off your credit card! You might want to reconsider about not keeping it or getting another one with a low interest rate. It's good to have one for emergencies and it could even help your credit rating. You just have to use it wisely.
-
You're not crazy but I think it would be wise to keep at least one but not use it much. It will help your credit rating. Not having accounts actually can have a negative effect. besides... you never know what catastrophe will come down the pike.

I think you are very sensible not having a credit card. The interest you pay on them is astounding, not to mention late payment fees etc. Personally I have never had one, and I do not intend to ever get one. I would rather save and pay cash. However, there is something to be said about the payment protection you get if you pay on a credit card. For instance, if you pay for a holiday on a credit card and the firm goes bust you stand a good chance of getting your money back; but if you pay cash or on a debit card, you wont get anything back. If may be wise to see if you can get a credit card that offers cash back, so you make your purchases on the card, pay the balance in full, and at the end of the year the credit card company pays you. Now, that sounds like a better idea to me!! But you need to be really good with money and very disciplined to do this though.
-
I don't think you are crazy, but very wise. The less debt you have, the better. Cash is king. Rather save money and buy things cash.
-
No I took my credit card in to the bank and had them cut it up in front of my eyes a year ago. We shouldn't be spending money we don't have. I don't buy anything on credit anymore. I use my mortgage bond as a savings account. I throw all extra money in there and when I have enough saved I withdraw some and buy what I need. In the meantime I saved by knocking down the capital on my mortgage bond.
-
That sounds really sensible to me!!
-
You are wise. Never use a credit card unless you can pay your bill in full at the end of each month. Credit card interests are insane.
-
You should actually keep a credit card. I paid everything off at one point and was credit free for a few years. But when I went to try and buy a car I was a credit ghost and it was hard to get financed at a decent rate. If I hadn't put down a massive down payment like I did I might not be driving the car I am today. I recommend keeping a credit card for emergencies and actually using it for small purchases. Pay off your charges before the next billing cycle to avoid interest. It will improve your credit and when you need to go for that large purchase you'll have a lot more buying power. Don't charge anything you can't afford to buy with your debit card.

Like a fox;)
-
No, not crazy at all. Credit is expensive.
-
It depends, did a leprechaun tell you not to get another credit card?

You're not crazy, just impulsive. Take the money you used to use to pay your monthly credit card bills and get half that amount deducted from your pay. (That way you won't even see the money) Open up an new account, checking or preferably savings. Have the deduction put into your new credit union or bank account. Get a debit card for that account only. You now have a credit card and soon you will have enough money in it and available to use instead of an interest accruing credit card.
-
its great to get it paid off. its crazy to never have one again. the problem isnt the credit card. the problem is you. you will most likely need it at some point. you can over come your problem of self control if you really put your mind to it.
-
No i would say that is very sensible, i alway pay of my credit card in full at the end of each month.
-
yes, it is wonderful that you are paying off. TRUST ME! ive been there done that. However, you want your credit to grow so you should get another card. Doesnt mean charge it up to the max. Charge a morning coffee or a tank of gas couple times a month. Then, PAY IT OFF IN FULL! Helps your credit!
-
no...showing good common sense....tore mine up 20 years ago and never regretted it....can't pay cash don't need it....saved me a bundle over the years....my brother and his wife just did the same....
-
No not crazy, but not having a credit card makes it dificult to buy airline tickets and rent cars, etc. There's nothing wrong with a credit acrd as long as you don't allow the balance to balloon.
-
Great. Don't cancel the card though because it can make it problematic to accomplish some things such as renting a car.
-
People who learn from their experiences are certainly not crazy. You don't like them, you know you don't and you are moving on, good for you.
-
NO! You are to be admired for having the strength to free yourself of the burdens of debt. I salute you! : )
-
Yoi should always have a major credit for emergency only. You should also use it for gas and small items so the account will show activity Retired bill collector 35
-
you say that now. and probably mean it at the moment. and thats all good. but prob a few years after your current one is paid off youll understand there are times you need one and will get another. i just hope your more responsible
-
I cut up all my credit cards about 15 years ago. One of the best moves of my life. Freedom. Mind you, I got a lot more Birthday and Christmas cards when I had creditors. They wanted to wish me well and hoped I did not die, LOL
-
YES, BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE A COMPUTER, YOU NEED A CREDIT CARD TO USE IT ON.
-
I know where your coming from. I've gotten in trouble a few times. I recommend you keep one. Bring the credit level down really low, like $500 and then freeze the credit card in 10 cups of water in a tupperware dish. This way you do not lose your credit rating with the banks for a house or car. And if you need it for a real emergency you have it. Because it's frozen it will take you hours to get it thawed so you really have to think about what you are doing. And you can only really get in trouble up to $500. Or you could give it to a relative you trust. I gave mine to my mother in law, in case of emergences and to maintain my credit rating.
