It's one of the few countries that WW3 isn't going to involve...
-
The most beautiful country in the world! But, I'm biased. Seriously, though, visitors to Australia rave about how friendly and down to earth we are, and that's something that we - generally - love to embrace and promote by being just that. I love this country, despite it's faults and flaws.
-
I think we have a long way to go in Australia. We're still fairly dependent on our big friends.
-
i think it would be a great place to live...i would love to visit there sometime or even live there...from what ive heard its great
-
I like the idea of visiting and the dozens of Australians I have met but the conservative government there really puts me off.
-
Love it. I am from Sydney, have loved in Melbourne and have travelled to Queensland. The place is amazing, the weather the best, and the scenery....well, we have it all, from snow to desert. And what can you say about the people? We have the best attitude...she'll be right. LOL
-
I like it here, but I don't like how we're Americanising slowly under John Howard's influence.
-
I think its a great country but I have difficulty understanding their accent.
-
I think a lot of things, none of which are supported by an actual visit. So before you rate me down, just remember this is a question about perceptions, not facts. I think Australia has an amazingly diverse and unusual animal and plant life. I think Australia must be hot and dry. I think Australia is not as different from the US as it likes to think it is. I think Australia treats it's ecological environment better than it's indigenous people. I think that Australia is our ally. I think Australia has some amazing surf spots. I think Australia resents England. I think Australia will be an important staging area in a theorhetical conflict with China. I think Australia did a great job with the Olympics. I think I would love to visit Australia. I think the white Australians I have met are condescending toward Americans. I think Australia should exert more influence in world affairs. I think that Australia, as a nation, has emotional baggage it carries around from it's childhood.
-
I see comments in here from some Australians that they love their country but don't like how it is getting "Americanized". Again with the America complaints. I see so much of this on AB like the rest of the world is perfect. I've lived in Europe and visited most of it and I was going to say I'd like to visit Australia and always have but, as an American, it doesn't sound like I'd be too welcome there so I won't comment on Australia. Do you like negative comments about your country?
-
luv it,I was born their, still carry an Oz passport.
-
it's home, and the best. i've done alot of travelling over th world and it's always good to be home!
-
I never been there, and have never really thought about it. From what I hear, it sound like the greatest place on the planet. Then again, I only hear that from Australians.
-
love it! i wouldn't want to live anywhere else! it makes me sad though because australia is slowly morphing into america junior.
-
I think we should leave it alone its the only place in the whole world we haven't ruined!!!
-
Like most places you really need to visit and leave the urban areas to see the best it has to offer ... I have travelled around the world visiting some wonderful countries ... but none as diverse or breathtaking as Australia ...
-
it would be really cool, with all the kangaroos jumping around. if I could I would live there
-
I would love to go there! My son is going for two weeks this summer with a youth group... so exciting.
-
It's too hot! lol other than that, very welcoming and has offered many opportunities towards myself and my family. Though I miss NZ but my home is here now in Brisbane Australia.
-
I like Kings Cross area. Was there many years ago. What is like now?
-
I'm surprised to hear that drinking wine now is more popular than beer. Is that true?
-
My mother lived there for two years when she was in her teens. She said it was beautiful. I for one have never gotten to experience it myself.
-
I think it is, from all I have seen, a beautiful and fascinating country that I would like to visit.
-
I would love to go to Australia..and Germany but I wont be going in this lifetime...I have an extreme fear of planes and get drugged heavily before I have to fly for business.. I dont think it would be good to stay drugged out for a flight that long..lol :)
-
I would love to go there if they changed their flag.
-
they have a lot of kangaroos?
-

-
it rocks!!!
-
Its home and I love it :)
-
It's popularity makes me feel sick. Most things about living here make me feel sick.
-
I feel safe here so it's all good :)
-
I've been to Sydney and Melbourne. I liked Sydney better (more laid back). Of those two places I've been, GREAT! Loved it.
-
I wish that they had never been allowed to play either Cricket or Rugby! How is an Englishman to feel about a Nation that is going to win?
-
I love it here. I'm from Sydney. Although one day I would love to go to America... I have always wondered what it was like there, and if its much different. I am half Aboriginal. and yes they do encourage them to go to school. You get Abstudy once you start highschool [year 7], which pays for uniforms and textbooks. I have been to Queensland, and its great there. It gets hot in summer! Its only downfall is in Sydney it doesnt snow!
-
I personally don't think this whole "Americanising" thing is such a big deal. Australia has still manage to keep some itself. Everything changes. I think we still have things of our own. Being an Aussie myself, ofcourse I'm going to be baist but I do love it here. Except I personally cannot wait for a new PM. No offence Johnny....
-
I love Australia, and I don't think Australia is becoming more American. For sure we are becoming more urbanised, especially in Sydney, but I think that is to be expected with the development right around the globe. I also don't think that Australians 'resent' the English. I have absolutely no idea where that came from. I love it here.
-
I was there once when I was younger for a couple months. I loved it there. Beautiful water, landscape, beaches, women with that accent! I would definitely like to go back again!
-
just so you know, i have never been to aus (biggest wish) but i am a loyal fan and know a bit about the place. i think the people are absolutely wonderful - so friendly and nice, so funny and fun and not afraid to be free spirits - doing what they want, in the result of priceless times! im pretty nutty myself so i love that general quality in the aussies =). i think the scenery and land is beautiful, especially the beaches and deserts. i think australia hands down has the best animals and wildlife! has amazing warm weather but can get too hot, at least to be comfortable? in my opinion. the accents are just brilliant haha! i love hearing them talk cause theyre accents are so cool! and when people saying its becoming americanized, what is that supposed to mean? the aussies that i personally know, they would never change who they are or how there country truly is! anyhow, this is how i feel and when i finally get to visit, my answers will be even better! =)

Australia is a wonderful place to live. The people are multicultural and friendly (though not as friendly as New Zealanders). The weather is wonderful. The animal life is totally amazing. We also have a great government now that Kevin Rudd is Primeminister.
-
Scrubland, Aborigines, Kangaroos, crocodiles, koalas, platypusses, sheep, lots of open land and Sweetcakes and Sweet T in the pool on floats as I feed them cheese and crackers. Been there, done that. :-)
-
boomerangs, family, fosters, marsupials(i can barely(hahaha almost misspelled as barley) remember the last time i saw one in real life... if i did it was at the zoo... i don't know if you would classify that as real life or not.
-
"Unique." "They say God made Australia last, don't ya know, after he got tired of making everything else the same." (Quigley Down Under)
-
A fantasy land that I would probably cry if I ever got to go. I watched Steve Irwin my whole childhood, read many books and had several pen-pals in Australia and I would love to see it for myself some day.
-
My alternate perception if you will ;)
-
My best friend is in Australia for a month, so right now it makes me sad...but otherwise I absolutely love the accents! I've always wanted to visit.
-
Great people, expansive territory and cool kooky accents.
-
It's a long way from all my friends in America :(
-
Jack O Brien ! HOT MEN! LOL LOL LOL :P
-
I visited Australia for 3 weeks last summer, and I didn't want to come back home (I love in Southern California). We started in Sydney and went down the coast to Cairns, doing all the touristy stuff but also some things that tourists wouldn't be able to do (like stay 2 nights with a host family in Bellingen.) It was the most beautiful place I have ever been. I didn't like the big cities as much though. Sydney was alright, the Opera House was absolutely beautiful. I liked Brisbane a bit better, especially the area around Griffith University. My favorite places were Moreton Island and Byron Bay. Oh, the beautiful Australian boys. :D I'm actually thinking about attending a university in Australia!

The world underestimate Australia. The Australian underestimated their competitive edge. Australia can be a world leader in the following issues: 1. Super nice people. 2. The government believe it should do everything it can to ensure its people live a good life. 3. The government is very efficient and effective. 4. Excellent management and administration system in both public and private sectors. 5. Everything is user friendly. 6.No mass. Everything under control. Enjoy life. 7. Quality of imported goods 8. Good manner 9. We verses I (community spirit) 10. Keeping promises To make Australia the best country in the world to live in, bring your own money with you. If you're going to depend on salary or business profits, you'll live a pretty tough life. Many Australians loss their jobs. Finding a job (perminent full-time) is known to be very difficult in Australia, unless you have skills they need, or you have arrived Australia since high school.

too cool
-
I wouldn't trade living here for all the tea in China.
-
For many who have never been to Australia, Australia reminds them of Kangaloo and koala. They thought one can see kangaloos in everyone's backyard. That's so mistaken. I've been living in Melbourne for 13 years. The only time I saw a kangaloo was in the zoo! For many who has been to Australia once, Australia reminds them of "sexy men" or "sexy women"! From my readings and chats with foreigners, Australia is known for its "hot girls taking initiation" in the modern days, and men being rough in the old days. For some people who don't know anything about modern Australia, Australia reminds them of criminals. They thought there are many criminals here. Nothing is further from the truth. Crime rate is very low in Australia. Welfare system is so good that stealing or robbing is completely unnecessary. Cheating is rare, for that level of IQ, one can get a certificate from TAFE and find a decent job. Personal record is monitored through out the whole country. A criminal cannot forge ID, change name and start over again in another state. From readings, I read that intellectuals in the world think that Australia is a country that is lack of interest in intellectualism. My experience and observation shows that blue collar workers are better off in this country. Those continue to tertiary study can hardly keep their jobs (working longer hours with no overtime payment). Professionals are so busy at work and study but earn only 50%-100% more than blue collar workers. Tertiary study is all about job skills. Older Australians don't think there is a need to think about the meaning of life ("Life is all about food, beer, sex, friends, house, isn't it?"), or one should keep learning, or how we can contribute to the evolution of mankind. For every single Asian I met around the world (who has never been to Australia), Australia reminds them of racism. For those who actually live in Australia, single mothers or unemployed Asians are very happy with Australia. Only those who finished universities complain: "If you are very good, you'll get a job in office. If you're really really good, you may have a chance moving into middle-level management. That's it. But compare with our country where we average people don't even have any chance, Australia is a better choice. But if you are too good and too embitious, Australia is not for you. Most young Asians don't stay in Australia. They always rise up to top management roles in a few years in other countries, and feel they live their lives to fullness."
-
for me i'd say its probably the second best country in the world, New Zealand being the best of course.
-

As a born Canadian (with Irish citzenship)that is living in Melbourne, I believe Oz is a great place. Canucks and Aussies are like kissing cousins and the winters are easier to take!!! Having travelled abit I would say Canada and Australia are the two best countries. Wide open clean spaces, great urban communities and the same laid back humour. Viva Australia.
-
It's very insular. Far away from everything. It becomes boring to live there after a while. Lots of Australians live abroad and I wonder if it's such a great place to live there why do many Australians stay away?
-
I love it! I live here, it's home :)
-
ahh... Australia is very nice... Its Festivals are full of life which i like most about Australia... and of course we celebrate New Years eve in summer. ;)
