I don't have a cookie jar. A cookie jar does not keep my homemade cookies sufficiently fresh.

My cookie jar has spare change.

RJ is right. A cookie jar doesn't keep cookies fresh. I have two cookie jars, one is filled with wrapped granola bars, the other is filled with votive candles and matches (we often have blackouts). I keep cookies and pretzels in large screw top jars that can be sealed.

I have never bought a cookie jar for cookies. It would always be empty. In fact, I usually only bake three at a time. I bought one of those tacky sets of matching canisters at a yard sale a lifetime ago and when I broke the lid on the biggest one I threw the lid away and used it for kitchen utensils that don't fit well in the drawer or that I like to have more handy, right by the stove. You know the ones, the ladle and the old fashioned potato masher that get hung on the drawer every time you open it? Yeah, those! Jim Rockford and Stephanie Plum kept their guns in the cookie jar. Now I have a tension bar over my stove and I hang my utensils and potholders on s hooks. They also work well on my metal shelving unit. That's where I hang my apron, pot holder, measuring cups, spoons, wisk, scissors, grater, baster, putty knife, etc. In fact I've thought of getting a baking rack and s hooks for an organizer.
