Only when leaving places late at night and alone. Otherwise the car does it automatically at like 20 mph.
-
Yes, and I sleep with a gun under my pillow.
-
I've always locked my doors; it's a habit as well as for general safety.
-
General safety. More like a habit anymore.
-
Who's "general saftey"? They should lock the likes of um behind bars..n-airy thang ;+
-
General safety. I never used to have to lock the doors, but times have changed and so have my habits.
-
Around here, its just what you do always...Fear
-
a little of both
-
Fear... fear of the neighbors who think my apartment is an extension of their own.
-
Yes I do, and I always double check them before going to bed. I also make sure the oven is off. I am a safety freak. Lol.
-
Out of general safety and a gun close by for general safety as well. +5
-
Neither. I don't even check them before I go to bed. But there again I have a hand gun in every room, so burglars beware.
-
Both, the general safety is from the fear of the increased home invasions/burgleries that happen now, I remember as a kid we could leave our door wide open and not have a problem, it would just be a "when" thing if I did that now
-
For safety purpose!
-
General safety. I'm not afraid of anyone coming in, I just don't want them to steal my stuff, and usually have the doors locked even if I am in during the day, as people can come in and steal your things while you are upstairs or in another room with music playing so you don't hear them, which happened to my parents.
-
Fear for my general safety.
-
I lock the doors to keep the thieves safe from my ex mother in law. She had a habit of catching and eating robbers... Grin...
-
Out of habit more than anything.
-
Mainly for privacy. I live in an apartment block with a handful of pleasant enought neighbours, I am not afraid of the big wide world despite living in city. However, I wouldn't want a contractor just wondering in while I am in the nuddy! Besides my insurance wouldn't pay out if I was asleep or not at home and the place was burgled and I hadn't locked the doors.
-
I had a man walk into my house and another freak try to get into my car at a stoplight.I always lock my doors now.Part of my fear is what I'll do to them if that should happen again.
-
Don't even know where the keys are. The dog will wake me in time to load the shotgun.
-
General safety. I refuse to live in fear. In fact, I'm the one to be feared if people try to make me live in fear... :):)
-
I think both.
-
Common sense the genesis of which is basically lack of trust. :(
-
I often forget to lock my door, which is slightly worrying, out of tiredness
-
Just safety as I feel this is my little piece of the world and if anybody tries to violate it , he/she is going to be dead, simple as that.
-
I lock for reasons of general safety.
-
I always lock my doors for general security.
-
I live in the country and I don't lock my doors... of course I have 2 very mean dogs waiting on anyone wanting to break in....:))
-
Out of general safety, but I hate it when I lock everything in the house and I then I realize that I am still outside.
-
General safety
-
I used to lock them out of fear now it has become a habit and general safety in my apt. building.
-
I lock the doors out of general safety. I hope I'm never put in a position where I'd have to lock the doors out of fear.
-
I lock mine out of general safety and common sense. And with a few guns laying around, I don't have much fear. :-)
-
The only fear would be not being able to get to my gun in time before he got to me. That would suck! Mostly because I would love to shoot an intruder!
-
general safety anything can happen in this world I live in a place where there hasn't been a murder in 10 years
-
Out of habit.
-
I don't always lock my door during the daytime
-
General Safety.

General safety, mostly just when no one is home - I'm in a pretty safe neighborhood in southern California, but varous "flotsam and jetsam" do filter through, either dropping off business cards at doorsteps, driving up the street in jalopy pickup trucks seeing what may be available at the curb to pick up, and/or riding down the (1-way) street on a bike, looking for open car windows where there is something small but desirable inside to steal! My husband had a nice jacket stolen about 5 years ago from his car, and neighbors have occasionally seen strange young guys riding their bikes down our street trying to "peek" into the cars. But in general, the motto is, "Better to be safe than sorry."
