Give her a gift card to her favorite tattoo shop.
-
If you are sure of her preferences...a book or CD, or a DVD/BluRay would be a good choice
-
Make up kit is out. Take her out to dinner. A simple restaurant, nothing fancy should do it. As long as it is not McDonald's.

Find a seriously groovy keyring. Both functional, and nice reminder that she has a friend. Sometimes it's just keys, and sometimes a comfort. (easily hidden, in plain sight, from her SO, as well)
-
If you haven't seen her in a very long time, then a card with a handwritten note in it will be well received.

I loved the suggestion for the key ring. You might also consider a book. There are always nice little gift books with phrases or one liners which could be appropriate. You can sometimes find them in card stores as well as a book store. I always think a gift which will last is best instead of something to be eaten or flowers which will die.
-
how about a jewelry box
-
Almost everyone likes chocolates. Buy her a small box of chocolates or a king sized candybar.
-
A retro looking storage jar filled with home-made lemon cookies. Be sure to write the recipe on the back of the card as a keep sake. Or... a basket filled with herbs you can get cheap at a nursery now. Get rosemary, thyme, and purple basil. Use a pretty tulle ribbon and bow to decorate the basket.
-
get her a small puppy, she will love that
-
No gifts. Just pay for coffee and a snack or the meal. Gifting is unnecessary for a get together.
-
