Not really. I think each generation has their goth rockers. For instance in the 70's, some people were creeped out by Alice Cooper (Manson cites Alice as one of his biggest influences) Today, Alice continues to perform (he still is a great live act and puts out solid albums) but is also known as a nice guy, family man, does a lot of charitable works. It was/is all just an act. That is beginning to be seen with Manson as well. Manson is very intelligent, it is just a stage act. In the 80's, you had bands considered shocking like W.A.S.P. or Gwar. From the 90's, you have Rob Zombie, who puts on a very theatrical show and does horror music, yet he is very intelligent as well and now directs movies among other things. You can also throw in bands like Slayer, King Diamond, etc. There is a place for horror themed music, much of which is not to be taken serious. Going back to Alice Cooper since he is considered the originator, he once made a comment that made since to me. He said when people were/are offended by his show "Are you offended by the violence in Shakespeare? There was a lot more blood in a Shakespeare play than during an Alice show, yet that is considered classic literature. It is a just a character I play, not who I am in real life. What is the difference?" Marilyn Manson is harmless.

I suppose. To some extent. Aren't we all? I actually used to be really scared of him, simply because of what people put him out to be. I was scared of his stereotype. Like most who say Manson is creepy are. But as I got more into music like his, I realized how pitifully IGNORANT that was. He happens to be a VERY intelligent man, and his music is pretty good too. He has a lot of good points, and for people to say he is "creepy" or "weird" just because he looks a bit different or has darker lyrics is just plain stupid. Do some research on the poor guy before you say something like that.

No, I don't think that Marilyn Manson is creepy. It is hard to be successful in the music business, so I can appreciate anyone who finds a gimmick and makes it work for them.

Nah, a lot of it is just acting and shock value. I have to say though, the Antichrist Superstar days seemed a lot more genuine than what he comes up with today. He's still flashy and artsy though, which I always appreciate.

I like some of his music, and his cover of the Ramones song. Rasputina did a cover of Tourniquet that is great. But some of his album covers make me want to puke! Man, he's hideous!

Marilyn Manson is only a character, and a profitable one at that. I think the man behind the mask is intelligent and highly creative. I don't find him creepy at all.

He is kinda creepy. That is what makes him special. He is creepier without the costume. He is a showman. He has figuired out his gimmick to make for a nice retirement. That takes talent these days. I like him.

At first I did, and I hadn't cared for him much. Then I saw bowling for Columbine and heard his opinion. THEN, I saw this video and concluded HE ROCKS! I don't think he's a satanist. I think he just uses that whole thing as his schtick.

Marilyn Manson is only truly creepy to those who don't understand what he's trying to do in the first place. He's one of the most intelligent, free, introspective artists today, and what he's doing is more important than anything to make their debut after the year 2000.
