Everything in the pelvic area is under pressure, what with there being another human squashed in there and everything. All passages are a bit compressed, which is one reason why constipation is such a common problem in late pregnancy and why the bladder needs to be emptied with such frequency. It will be physically tighter simply because there isn't as much room as there was before, and it will be more sensitive as the blood vessels and nerve endings are all under stress.
