How can you tell when a cucumber is bad, if it doesn't show any outward signs of rotting?

If it has soft spots in it or if the whole thing is soft enough to give under pressure from a squeeze then it's bad.

Softness. If it is bendy. If the skin wrinkles when you push it with your thumb. Dull color (not to be confused with waxed vs unwaxed).

If its tender or is wrinkly.

Put a little pressure on the cucumber, if there is soft spot , it has gone bad. It should be firm.
