The world as we know it might end. People should stop taking it so literally. World doesnt mean 'the planet', it means the society we live in, OUR world. It might come to an end. If this crisis continues we will be forced to shape a new society because of all the things that will happen. People without homes, work. Money will get a whole different value. But to say it is going to happen in december 2012, well I don't know. Society will fall anyway if we continue living like this, but who knows when..

There is a possibility that they may finally have the LHC into production by then and as some of the doom-speakers have been predicting a black hole will be created and swallow the Earth. But our planet does not have enough gravity to sustain a black hole so Earth will just be spit back out again -intact- so rapidly that no-one will notice. So I for one ain't worried.

more or less... the sun's energy will be at it's climax all throughout the year of 2012 and the planets will align december 21 2012 (science has proven all of this) the main thing we need to worry about is how the sun's energy and rise in radiaton will effect us and if all of this will effect our "magnetosphere" the chances of the world ending on that date are low its just that the Hindus, Mayans, and some other cultures predicted that that date would be the end of the world. its just like religion, its based on belief, and barely on real data, proof, and information

From what i understand, it's mostly magnetic forces, like things will change, but it's like the birds wont know which way to fly bla bla bla, i'm not certain on that, but i think that's what i've heard. i also have not watched the new 2012 movie, dont know how true that is either?
