Water, vodka, gin, acquavit, most clear liquors, milk are all best chilled to the max. Whiskeys and rum and sipping tequilla should NOT be chilled. Many beers should not be 'ice-cold' but have more taste if chilled to a lesser extent. White wine should be chilled, but again not ice-cold. And if you chill a great red wine to ice-cold you will never be invited into my home again. on the other hand, red wines are not meant to be 72*F,either. They should be in the mid 60's i believe.
