It brings to mind an image of puppies struggling against their mom to suckle. I guess I'd say she probably put about as much thought into this as she did into the implicatins of taking fertility drugs. Good Luck with that

If she used fertility pills to get to that point she and her husband need to stand on their own. No government assistance.

it sounds pretty exciting to me. I hope she has a lot of help, she's going to need it. When my first baby was born, I swear I had enough milk to feed triplets, but 8? maybe. It reminds me of the old fashion "nurse maid", a young woman who was paid to nurse other people's babies.

As a breastfeeding mom with ONE baby at a time... I spend enough time breastfeeding with just one that I don't think even if I spent ALL my time feeding babies and never did anything else, they'd all be satisfied. And that is presuming that I could make that much milk, which, even being as prolific a milk-maker as I am, I doubt I could. I spend a long time each day breastfeeding my 8 month old, and I'm thankful that she's into eating solids now so I can cut out a feeding or two! I presume she'll supplement her feeding with formula and just try to share around the benefits of breast milk with all of them. ------------ Oh, my alternative comment was: Moooooo...

She will not last long. It's hard enough nursing one baby, it takes serious commitment and is VERY trying. I'm sure she PLANS to nurse, but experience tells me that may not work as planned :( Best of luck to her, though. Besides college, breastfeeding is the best gift you can give your baby.

Good luck with that! I had a hard enough time breast feeding twins. Could'nt produce enough milk. I can't imagine 8!

Just heard on the news tonight that she has 6 other children. And, I think it's a safe bet saying she used fertility drugs, especially b/c she didn't want doctors commenting on whether she did or not.

I would not mind if she had the money to take care of them but she does not. But they will most likely offer a movie or book deal. So maybe she will have money.

I think its another way of milking the welfare system & draining the state benefits from what I've read about it. Personally I think it was crazy because she already had kids & if my memory serves me right she's a single mom living with her parents why was she trying to get pregnant again other then to live off the system. Unless your a bazillionare you can't possible support & raise that many kids without state assisistance & a big family to help love them & watch over that many children.

Totally irresponsible. My wife and I thought long and hard before we decided to have our two kids, in terms of ability to properly support ourselves as a family. Does this woman expect the State to provide for her selfishness?

I feel sorry for the kids. The woman doesnt sound stable. Who in their right mind would be single, living with their parents. already have 6 kids and then go and have fertility treatments to get pregnant again? I think this woman is going to try and get money and fame from having so many kids.

According to the NY Times: The mother of a woman who gave birth to octuplets last week in California says her daughter is unmarried, conceived all her children through in-vitro fertilization, and has been obsessed with having children since she was a teenager, the Associated Press reports. The 33-year-old mother of the octuplets already has six young children at home. CBS News says the woman lives with her parents, and the family filed for bankruptcy and abandoned a home a year and a half ago. Where did the money for the in-vitro come from? CPS should be taking a good look at this mother. She needs a shrink more than an ob-gyn.

I feel sorry for her Mother whom I just heard on the news today that when she comes home with the children she is leaving and the mother will be left on her own. At first I thought how could a mother turn their back on her child when she needs her the most but the poor grandma is already lookng after her other 6 children.I thnk the mother should be seriously thinking about placing them up for adoption or the medical team that gave her the infertility drugs should pay for the cost of raising them.What were they thinking!!!

I think the doctor should be prosecuted for allowing a woman, especially one with 6 kids already, to have another 8! No husband, and will live on taxpayers support. Evidently she has some issues that should have been addressed by a psychologist before it ever happened.

Well, she has hired a public relations company to represent her. She must be expecting to be receiving some big endorsements for a book or movie.

My thoughts are with her and I hope she does right by her children. Even though she had others at home, it was her right to have another. She couldn't have possibly foreseen that she'd have 8 at once.

I think it is no different than people having one after another all of the time. So what she had 8 at once. Why I don't know. Who am I to judge her without knowing the truth. I know what I have heard. I just know that you can't believe everything that you hear either. I wish her and especially all of her children the very best. I hope that if she can not support them that she will do what is best for them and give them up for adoption to a loving couple that can't have children and let those children have a chance at a wonderful life.

I'd like to know who the doctor was that performed fertility treatment on a single woman with 6 kids already..Then I would like to know who paid for these treatments(anyone who has had them knows it is not cheap)..and lastly I would like to know how many stupid people are going to send her money and reward her stupidity..She needs to place them up for adoption and not raise them on welfare..People out there would love to have them..:)

She would have to give milk like a jersey cow. let's see breastfeeding takes 500kcal extra per baby a day. so of the normal 2000kcal a day, she will need 4000kcal, if she would actually breastfeed all of them without any bottel feeds. so she will sit all day long eating and probably twinfeeding them. ohh and don't forget the amount of liquid she would have to take in too. haha impossible!
