"Lignum arboris" literally means 'wood of a tree'. It may have a more specific meaning to a particular Cathholic order. It may refer to the wood of stake (Catholics would say cross) of Jesus' execution. Or it may mean wood from a tree belonging to the person next named. "S." likely an initial and the rest of the name is that of a person. This person may have made, 'blessed' or owned the rosary. Looking at the words as being more than a proper name, "Dominic" means 'of the Lord', "Terre" means 'Earth' or 'to the earth' and "Catacombe" refers to burial places near and under ancient Rome. Some believe that early Christians were buried there. Since 'S.' may stand for Salvatore, a common word in Latin meaning 'Savior', there may be several meanings, including, "By the cross the Lord is my savior (or saves me) from the depths (or pit or grave) of the earth." This appears to be Church Latin which differs somewhat from the Classical Latin i've studied, so the meaning may vary. These are the elements; perhaps someone more versed in Catholic usage can help. If this isn't the best answer, at least it's ASAP. Hope it helps.

Sorry to ' burst your bubble' but the rosary implies two things that the Bible does not agree to. 1. The shape of the cross...Jesus died on a STAUROS...an upright stake or pole...with no crossbar. The Roman army would not have wasted resource on a person they thought of not much importance...by manufacturing a cross...a carpenter, tools, time etc. 2. The rosary beads represent fixed prayers...sent by fingering them...and this is what scripture says. (Matthew 6:7) When praying, do not say the same things over and over again as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. My answer but not my thoughts on the matter.

pugwashjw65Is there the slightest chance you might consider studying the Bible and what it really teaches? Like God's proper name? Exodus 6:3
